help with APA hopping schedule (CTZ and Amarillo)

Thanks for pointing me to these threads! I've wanting to try these New England IPA's. It sounds right down my alley with the smooth and low bitterness with tons of hop aroma and flavor. unfortunately, theyre nowhere to be found in Minneapolis. Guess I'll just have to brew a few myself! Ale of...

I was thinking about FWH. Your recommendation solidified my choice to go with it.

help with APA hopping schedule (CTZ and Amarillo)

What kind of flavor can I expect from this type of ratio?

Also, any pointers on using CTZ in ways other than bittering and what to expect from them would be great!

help with APA hopping schedule (CTZ and Amarillo)

A pound each of Amarillo (7.7%) and CTZ (13.8%) was given to me for my birthday. I haven't used either of these hops before. So I was hoping to get a critique of my projected hop schedule. The grain bill has already been milled so I can't change that. 5.5gal batch 6 lb 2 row 5 lb maris...

    Fresh Squeezed IPA (Deschutes Inspired)

I overshot my OG (1.070)and FG (1.008) for this recipe. Added an ounce of Mosaic to the dry hop schedule. So here she is, a DIPA version of plankbr's recipe. She goes down dangerously smooth for 8.1% a little more malt flavor than I planned for, ehich was expected since I pre emptively upped the...

    Fresh Squeezed IPA (Deschutes Inspired)

A little update on my batch of this recipe: 5gallon BIAB BATCH I increased the malts to make up for some inefficiency. Ended up with a 1.070 FG. I guess my efficiency increased! pitched 2 packs of rehydrated US-05 (first time using dry yeast) and fermented at 65F. ended up with a FG of 1.009...

    Fresh Squeezed IPA (Deschutes Inspired)

I was going to go with Wyeast 1272 as it was the freshest yeast my LHBS had. I've also slightly adjusted the recipe to account for my efficiency with BIAB and took out the wheat and added more crystal to make up for it. Any objections to these changes or do you think it should still turn out to...

FG is too high on 2 different brews

After reading this, I'm thinking that my ph may have been the issue. Or maybe a high temp and high ph? http://beersmith.com/blog/2015/06/05/mash-ph-for-brew-in-a-bag-no-sparge-and-decoction-mashing/

FG is too high on 2 different brews

Also, here is a link that describes the technique I'm doing http://beersmith.com/blog/2014/01/11/no-sparge-beer-brewing-for-all-grain-brewers/

FG is too high on 2 different brews

I gotta be honest. Most of this is beyond my beer brewing knowledge base. Could you dumb down for me what you are trying to convey? I obviously have A LOT to learn haha

FG is too high on 2 different brews

take everything i state with a grain of salt as i'm new to this. but this is what i've been taught from a buddy who has been doing BIAB for a couple years now. he is the one who told me to do the recipe as i did it as he has done the Dead Ringer recipe multiple times with success.most BIAB...

    Water Adjustments VIA Bru'n Water

I'm planning on brewing up a batch of plankbr's Fresh Squeezed inspired IPA on Saturday. this will be my third all grain/BIAB and will be using RO water so i used bru'n water to figure out which additions i need. this is my first time using it so i was hoping to get some input on whether or not...

FG is too high on 2 different brews

thanks for pointing me towards this. Im preparing for a brew on saturday. It's of plankbr's Fresh Squeezed inspired IPA (link below). i used the brewers friend calculator to scale up my batch (to account for trube/break loss) to make sure my OG, FG, and IBU would be in line with his recipe...

FG is too high on 2 different brews

From what I've read, these ratios are pretty standard for BIAB with no sparge. This is the technique my buddy taught me who has never had an issue hitting his FG. There's a lot more loss to break and trübe with BIAB so I make a larger amount of wort to make up for the loss. What would your pre...

FG is too high on 2 different brews

Well after 5 days of carbonating I poured a glass to see how the beer is coming along. Carbonation seemed to be where it should be. My buddy said it kind of reminded him of a hoppy barley wine. Is that due to the high FG/unfermentable sugars? It did finish out at 1.02. It's hard to describe...

    Fresh Squeezed IPA (Deschutes Inspired)

Obviously it wouldn't be a fresh squeezed, but would only using mosaic hops for flavor and aroma and nugget for bittering following this grain bill and hop schedule make a good beer? I happen to have a butt load of mosaic right now (along with centennial and calypso) and want to use them up...

Third batch all grain, help me devise a recipe!?!?

I'd like to end up with 6 gallons of wort as I've ended up with a lot of cold break and trübe in my last 2 batches
