How did you break the airlocks?

    Beer Pouring Flat

So some good news. I had the CO2 set to around 25 since the last time I posted and went to pour one today. It came out fast. Released the keg pressure and dialed the regulator back to around 10. It pours nice and tastes acceptable. So I am happy. For now.

    Beer Pouring Flat

I don't think so. Would a keg leak cause this? All of my kegs are of the used variety purchased from various advertisers here. I have not been able to pinpoint it down to a single keg yet.

    Beer Pouring Flat

I have a keezer with a 3 way secondary regulator split to a two way and three way distributor. The third leg on the regulator is not being used. The last batch I made tasted ok but poured flat, even though the keg seemed to have pressure. I ran out of CO2 at some point and let the beer sit...

American IPA Bell's Two Hearted Ale Clone (close as they come)

I made this recipe and added some citra hops and altered the additions a little bit. It came out pretty solid (according to me). Going to try to make it again.

Early IPA Tasting Tastes Like Apples

I pitched one package into ~5 gallons, I did not rehydrate, and the yeast was not expired according to date on the package.

Early IPA Tasting Tastes Like Apples

The heater was set at 64 with the probe taped to the outside of the bucket. The ambient temp was likely 55-60 (temperature controlled basement in NE).

    Good deal.... or great deal?

Just don't go from doing a five gallon batch and then scale back down to the 1 gal brooklyn kit. I did it and it wasn't fun, but you might have more patience than me.

Early IPA Tasting Tastes Like Apples

I used Centennial hops, Safale-05, and I had a heater wrapped around the bucket for the first two weeks or so set to 64.

Early IPA Tasting Tastes Like Apples

I brewed a Bell's Two Hearted clone recipe a few weeks ago. This was my first time making the same recipe twice, although the first time I dry hopped with some extra hops. After I fermented for 3-4 weeks I cold crashed for a week and kegged. I few days later I tried some (still not fully...

First 5 Gal Brew on Propane Burner and Safety

I melted the handle on my mash tun by not turning the burner off while filling it up from the kettle. Nobody got hurt though.

Cant decide on a kettle looking for advice

I ended up getting both. I hope to use the 15 gallon to eventually brew 10 gallon batches outside, and the 10 gallon works well for brewing five gallon batches inside. If I were to do it again, I probably would have gotten the 10 first, and then a 20 down the road. They make really nice kettles...

How to take care of your kettle

    This stuff works really well.

American IPA Bell's Two Hearted Ale Clone (close as they come)

Brewed this today with a slightly different hop schedule. Missed the OG by a small amount. Hoping this turns out well to make it my always on tap kinda beer.

Uncrushed Grain in Non Food Safe Container

Is it acceptable to weigh non crushed grain in a non food safe bucket, such as the one from home depot? I am working on my first AG batch not using a recipe kit, but I only had one food grade bucket to crush my grain into. I used a small tupperware (filling it multiple times) to weigh out...

    Which kettle for BIAB?

Spike's are pricey, but they are damn nice kettles. I started with a 15 gallon and purchased a 10 afterwards to use indoors.

Anyone aspiring to open a brewery?

The whole brewing thing is new to me within the past year but I like it. Whether or not I could make it pay the bills is yet to be known. As of right now, the job I went to school for is funding my new found hobby and I am ok with that. There certainly won't be any money falling into my lap...

    Refractometer question

Why can't you use it post boil, pre fermentation? I have only recently gotten a refractometer, but I thought you were supposed to use it after boil, before pitching the yeast.
