Colorado Brewing Systems touchscreen controls -- pics and info

I got the touchscreen for my Down Under version and it just has one 4 wire 240v line, no separate 120v line needed. The PLC they show in their video is of the larger 7" screens for the dual systems, ours is just a smaller 4.3" screen as we don't need the space for running two kettles. Did you...

    Poll-->Best Brewery Power Source

Last summer I had solar panels installed on my house which is tied to the grid. They generate enough to cover my annual electricity usage. I recently received my Colorado Brewing Systems setup, so I voted electric but would classify myself as solar.

On the down under version the recirc arm's mounting point is welded onto the basket.

When you do 5 gallons do you have any issues with getting the grains fully submerged? I did some measuring and calculating last night and this morning again. The kettle is 20 inches wide and 19.5 inches high which gives it about 0.735 inches per gallon. The basket is 15.5 inches high and the...

Word back from Tim is that they've updated the down under to come with the 25 gallon kettle vs the 20. The down under is mostly purchased by commercial breweries for their pilot brews and wanted the extra space. He's good with swapping my kettle out, so I just need to decide if it really is...

I've emailed Tim to see about swapping kettles, will report back when I hear from him. I'm wondering if they were having issues getting 80 quart kettles in stock so they went with 100s to keep production going.

This is down in my basement and about 10ft away is a sink with a pump which I will just run a longer hose to. My washer and drier are right above it so I plan to tap into that waterline for easy kettle filling. I'm kind of torn because on one hand I can make bigger batches but if it will be too...

I ordered back in May, but delayed the delivery because I wanted the touchscreen. The touchscreen is actually the smaller 4.3 inch for the single system, they originally were going with 3.5 but decided the extra space was better. I too had verified with Tim before ordering back in May about the...

Received my 20 gallon down under system this week and got it dry fitted. Cleaned everything but haven't had a chance to run water through it yet. I do have one question for folks that are still doing 5 gallon batches. The kettle that came with mine is actually 100 quarts (25 gallons) and I'm...

Tim from CO Brewing emailed me back that the systems are now coming default with 240v 4 wire setup vs the 240v 3 wire with separate 120v outlet.

I still have a while before mine comes in but am having some heat pumps installed this coming week so thought I'd wire up the outlets that I'll need. On CObrewing documentation it says: 'Step 7: Install your main power plug. On 208/240V control panels the system ships without the power plug...

There's a new document on the downloads page over at cobrewing about general brewing notes. It recommends nothing finer than 0.45 milling of the grains.

    Conical Fermenter

Great, I was getting ready to pull the trigger on the Ss Brewtech but kept holding off because of the weldless ports they decided to use. I thought it a strange addition seeing if you are already going to buy a conical over a plastic bucket or glass carboy I don't think the price would have been...

    Conical Fermenter

Spike, is the temp control option going to just cover cooling or will there be a heating option too? This would be going in my basement and winter temps can get down into the 40's so having a heat wrap of some kind would be great.

Thanks, 20 gallon Down Under system ordered. I had called the other day and Tim from CoBrewing just called me back, really nice guy. They are starting to offer touch screen controls and a rotating vent hood. They are going to call me right before building my system to see if I want to upgrade...

Thanks pretzlb, will definitely fit through the door. With the poles attached, what's the overall height?

If you don't mind measuring the total height that would be great. Since it comes apart I shouldn't have an issue getting it in the door. I've got about 8ft of clearance once in the basement for it to stand up in, might be able to cheat a little more height between the floor joists if needed.

I was hoping you would chime in. That's pretty much how I'm feeling about which way to go. One other question for you. In a picture you posted earlier showing the feet of the stand the tower for the pulley system wasn't connected. Does it just slide into the stand somehow or is it...

Thats what I'm trying to justify. The stand on the down under looks to be turnkey, I would just drop it in the location and be done. The home I'd have to build something to raise everything up and mount the pump. From the new pictures they posted of the home it looks like it has a smaller...
