    Too long in bottles......

Touche. I'll sit in the penalty box for that one. But I don't appreciate having my patriotism questioned, or people freaking out over a damn joke. There was a smiley face there, no?! Anyway, you're right. I shouldn't have said that. I'll take my punishment, but I won't take it back ;)

    Too long in bottles......

And somehow you've managed to remain popular, despite your mouth - wow! Seriously man, I didn't intend to offend. Take a few deep breaths. Relax, have a homebrew ;)

    Too long in bottles......

I beg to differ. A chapter in Brew Your Own British Real Ale at Home specifically says priming is unnecessary, a tool used by major brewers who need to get their beer to market faster or impatient homebrewers. Fact is, at least according to them, that there are plenty of residual sugars in the...

Putting My CO2 Regulator Back Together...

I did find it, it had rolled under the Keezer. But it doesn't seem to matter anyway. Disconnected, my high pressure gauge reads 800. Hmm... Sigh. Anyone know where you can get a high pressure gauge? Lowes and Home Depot don't seem to be any help.

Putting My CO2 Regulator Back Together...

Umm, yeah... Thing is, I can't seem to locate the thing-a-ma-bob. So now I'm afraid I'm screwed. I'll keep looking :)

Putting My CO2 Regulator Back Together...

I got a secondary regulator today, so I turned off the gas and disconnected my primary. I removed the high pressure gauge, and I'm all set to daisy chain the secondary to my primary, when I realized one is left hand threaded and the other is right hand. Argh! So I decided it was time to put it...

    Beer/Gas Line Question

Right, right, I just typed it wrong - you are correct, though! I did run it correctly myself, and came out with 2 PSI at the faucet. Which should be ok, I would hope. We'll see - if I get a glass full of foam, I'll jump online and order new line :)

    Beer/Gas Line Question

    Oh and also, I keep my beers at 40 deg and use 10 PSI. So that helps. If I plug those numbers into the formula (L = P - (H * .5) - 1 / R) with a length (L) = 10', pressure (P) = 10 PSI, height to faucet (H) = 2', resistance (R) = .7, I can get the pressure at the faucet (represented in the...

    Beer/Gas Line Question

Barbed. I did end up finding 1/4" ID braided reinforced vinyl tubing at Home Depot that is apparently (according to the box) specifically for "beverage lines." So hopefully that will do the trick. It only came in 10' lengths though, so we'll see. Either way, it came out to like $.44/foot, so it...

    Beer/Gas Line Question

According to the formula here (http://hbd.org/clubs/franklin/public_html/docs/balance.html) I need about 11 feet - I think 18 would be a little excessive :) But I probably will go with something temporary for now and order replacement lines. I'd go buy the "right" stuff from my LHBS, but they...

    Beer/Gas Line Question

I've heard people mention the "thick-walled" thing - what is that about, just holding up to the pressure? Because the tubing at Lowes is said to withstand up to 55 PSI (way more than I'd ask of it)?

    Beer/Gas Line Question

I'm getting the parts for my keezer today, sans beer and gas line. The fittings on the shank for the beer line and my keg connectors are 1/4", and the gas fittings on the manifold and keg are 5/16". Now I'm reading that 1/4 is too big, and I should have gone with 3/16 - crap. Oh well, too late...

    Turning cooler jug into carboy

Yeah, I would probably recommend against it too. I doubt you'd ever be able to get a cooler air-tight, which is really important. Also, with the exception of the special plastic used in Better Bottles, most plastic is oxygen permeable, could hold tastes and odors, and stains. Keep an eye on...

    Keezer Collar Question

Ohhh, is that you in your avatar? ;)

    Keezer Collar Question

Looks good, BeerThirty! So you just secured the collar to the lid with silicone caulk? What size wood did you use for your collar - looks almost like 2x6? Mr. EdWort sir (it's an honor for you to respond to one of my posts), wouldn't you think a 2x12 could be pushing the limits of the average...

    Keezer Collar Question

Ideally, I'd secure the collar to the lid, and move the lid seal onto the bottom edge of the collar, so the shanks are out of the way when the lid is open to change kegs. I didn't realize there was solid enough structure in the lid to just screw the wood directly into it, that's good to know...

    Keezer Collar Question

I just have a quick question regarding the many keezers I've seen on this site. I've ordered the last of the parts I need for mine, so construction will start next week (the second the UPS guy leaves). Everything I've seen online so far has a 2x4 collar with a 2x6 around it. The 2x4 just sits on...

DIY Mash Tun - 7 Gal Rubbermaid Big Enough?

Rock on, thanks jfrizzel! And most of the recipes I'm looking at call for much less grain (under 9 pounds roughly, for a Bitter), so I think I'd be in great shape.

DIY Mash Tun - 7 Gal Rubbermaid Big Enough?

I can't seem to find 10 gallon Rubbermaid coolers anywhere, but I see online that Wal-Mart stocks the 7 gallon version. Is that big enough for a 5 gallon all-grain batch? I don't know how much room the grain takes up when you add it to the water, so while this might seem like a stupid question...

    Substituting Hop Varieties

Yes, please do! I'm a newbie, but I want to do a bitter from all grain, so if you've got a recipe that works, I'd love to see it in its entirety!
