    Increasing strike water for adjuncts

Hey guys, grain bill will be 20 pounds and then I’m also adding 10 pounds of pumpkin into the mash. How much strike water should I use?

    Next step for fermenting?

Hey guys, I want your feedback to see what's the best next step (with considerations to finances). Right now, I have a kegerator that's not being used as such. Currently, I have a cream ale fermenting in there. So my question is should I return that kegerator to being a kegerator and spend a...

    Concord 25 Gallon Kettle

I just got my kettle in the mail today. And although I'm not brewing with it until Sunday, it sure is pretty! Can't wait! Anyone else use one? Full review to come!

    It’s been a while.....

I am sad to say it’s been around a year since I last brewed. I am even more sad to say the last time I brewed, I never even transferred from fermentation to my keg! (Oh the humanity!!) Well, I’m in between nursing school semesters right now so what better time to brew? It was almost cathartic to...

Which kettle is bettle (rhyme fail)

I brew 10-15 gallon batches, some being fairly higher gravity (6.5%-9.5%); all grain, cooler HLT and mash tun. I currently use a friends old 20 gallon aluminum pot that he is needing back from me borrowing so I’m looking at a new 30 gallon kettle. I have an old 8 gallon megapot that I brewed...

    Temperature while fermenting

Hey guys, so I’m in the market for a new fermenter. I’m wanting to step up my game in my fermentation world regarding temp control. So here’s my options: Buy SS Brewtech 14 gallon for $400 plus another $260 for their immersion cooler attachments. Or I buy this new 14 gallon Vevor stainless...

Ship beer vs fly with it?

Hey guys, I live in Shelby, NC and am flying to Montana do some fly fishing in August. I was wondering if it’d be cheaper/more efficient and legally-er (that’s a word I promise) to pack a few bombers in my checked suitcase vs shipping the bombers there. Also, I just realized this thread will...

    So what next?

Been brewing a few years now; probably 150+ gallons under my belt. I’m trying to figure out what’s my next big improvement for my brewing. At this point, this is what I’ve done. - I have a nice brew cart that holds everything I need for brew day. - I have a big burner that heats up 15+...

    Mash temps?

Trying to learn my mash temperatures better. So for an IPA like the photo attached, I should mash at 152 instead of 154? (I usually mash at 154 but once again I’m learning more and more).

    Brewing with new equipment

Brewing this recipe of mine tomorrow for the first time. Also, I got some new toys and will be using an exchilerator with an in-line oxygen stone for the first time. I can‘t wait to see how much my yeast starter loves it and also how much time will be knocked off not having to use a 25’...

    Roasted pecans in mash?

This recipe calls for roasted pecans in the mash. Can I just purchase roasted pecans from the grocery store or do I need to roast them myself and put them in brown bags to reduce the oil. I figure since it will be in the mash, it will not matter if there is oil since that will boil out. Thoughts?

    Too late to add water?

I messed up somewhere along the line and only moved 4.25 gallons to my fermentor today. I've already pitched yeast and I already have bubbles in the airlock. Is it too late to add water to drop my OG a bit and increase volume?

    What just happened?

Hi everyone, I brewed a Honey wheat this past Thursday with great success. First all grain batch completely by myself and I hit 76% efficiency. I made a starter from WLP300 and I had airlock fermentation in two hours! I ferment in my basement which is normally 68 degrees throughout the year. We...

    Absolutely love brewing!

Hey y'all I work for a company that has a ton of home brewers so it had been on my to do list for a while. Well, last Christmas, I put together a few Amazon gift cards and bought a kit and I haven't looked back! I've brewed a dozen batches and have moved from extract to BIAB. I'm pretty proud...

Fat Tire Clone extract too heavy

Hey guys, attached is a photo of the instructions to a fat tire clone i brewed this morning. I started with 5.7 gallons and ended up with 4.2 gallons (?!) The starting gravity, per instructions, should be 1.064 +/- My starting gravity, after boiling and yeast, was 1.070. Do you think it was so...

    Bubbles within one hour!

Hey y'all, this is my first thread although I've been reading for a few months now. I brewed my fifth batch this morning. A West Coast IPA (http://ebrew.com/product4643.html). I got an OG of 1.070. I've never made a yeast starter before so I thought I'd give it a try. I made the starter...
