    Drunken Farmer Imperial Saison

It's definitely a powerful one! I bottled it a week ago and it ended up at 1.009

I'm about two weeks from bottling... I'll let you know!

    Light Lemonade Mead

Awesome. Thanks for the reply! I did use D47 with 5.5# of honey, 2# corn sugar and 4 tubes of lemonade.

    Light Lemonade Mead

Thank you all who are still watching this thread! Its been about a month since this brew has been in the fermentor for me. I want to transfer the mead to a secondary to help clear it up some. How low should I let my SG get before I transfer? It started at 1.071. After checking it last night...

    Light Lemonade Mead

Just check on this batch... Bit it looks like it's separated... The op recipe has been in the fermenter for about 2weeks and its got what looks like a huge yeast cake on the bottom. But little to no foam on top... Should I gently mix it up to get the particles floating around?

    Help I'm Stuck'

Yet again some really good advice from the HBT forum!... After checking the gravity with a hydrometer I was at 1.004 for a FG! Much better than 1.030! :mug:

    Help I'm Stuck'

Thanks all! I will have to retest tomorrow!... This also explains why my IPA is on the verge of being bottle bombs!... I checked my FG with the refactometer. Way to early and didn't think about why it was stuck at 1.036.

You should never return your gravity sample to your brew. That could lead to some pretty nasty infections!!

    Help I'm Stuck'

I am using a Auto temp correcting refractometer. The kit says the OG should be about 1052... Mine was 1061. I used the alternate instructions to add 1 gal of unpasteurized cider after the boil so my OG will be higher that expected to start... However there was a TON of simple sugar in...

    Help I'm Stuck'

Help!! I should have bottled my Midwest Supply Apple Ale kit about two weeks ago. I have been holding out because the gravity is only 1.030. It says I should get down to about 1.014. At one point the temp did get down to 64F. I noticed it about 3 dats after, and turned up the heat to keep it...

    Drunken Farmer Imperial Saison

It depends how far you are off from your 2.5 gal. With boiling for 60 min you will only be down about 1 quart. Do its up to you if you want to add water to get the volume... Or keep the original boil and keep the ABV/gravity.

    Drunken Farmer Imperial Saison

I decided against a half batch. But I would have boiled the entire 2.5 gallons.

    Drunken Farmer Imperial Saison

You might have to elaborate on an "appropriate starter". I have never used liquid yeast before. Sorry but I will need a starter 101 crash course...

    Drunken Farmer Imperial Saison

Ah.... good question. The kit gives the options of Lallemand Belle Saison (Dry), French Saison (Wyeast liquid) or White Labs Saison II. I was thinking of trying the Wyeast. However I have never used a liquid yeast before... I hope its not to difficult!

    Drunken Farmer Imperial Saison

Thanks all for the info... To make things more complicated I want to make a half batch just so I can try it. Is the recipe below right taking in consideration what m00ps said about the hops and grains? 3.66# Pilsen Light DME (Used .8:1 conversion from LME to DME - I will round up to 4#) 1#...

    Drunken Farmer Imperial Saison

Really that's it?! So most of the maltyness must come from the LME...

    Drunken Farmer Imperial Saison

Ok... So I feel bad trying to cheat out a home brew online retailer... But $70 plus shipping is a bit much for an extract kit. I am trying to price out Midwest Supplies Drunken Farmer Imperial Saison. The catch is there is a blend of specialty grain included in the kit. Does anyone know...

    American IPA Haphazard IPA

I know this is an old thread... But why would a late addition of the amber affect the color? Would it make it lighter or darker?

    Brew #2

Well all... I did my first check the the gravity today, and to me it seemed ok... However Brooklyn Brew Shop doesnt include any of the info on the beer. I do now know what it should be start or finish. Here is what I have: OG: 1.052 FG (First Check): 1.021 Calculated ABV%: 4.19% The kit...
