    No oxygen dry hopping

Hi Here is how this works commercially and how it potentially translates into homebrewing. 1) Cut 2 holes in the top of your Fermenter and put some sort of air tight flanges / nipples / whatever. I would suggest a 2" and a 1/2" hole. You'll need a 1/2" ball valve for the 1/2" connection. 2)...

    Sparkling "Hard" water recipe

Here is another approach to consider that mimics the big boys; send this stuff through RO filters before adding flavors. It will require putting together an RO system like such: https://soulyrested.com/2019/01/08/build-your-own-reverse-osmosis-system-for-maple-syrup/ Malt base: Brew a high...

Native ESP8266 BrewPi Firmware - WiFi BrewPi, no Arduino needed!

Threw it all in a 'waterproof' case. For an improvement I'm going to add a button to the case to wake it up so someone walking by can check the temperature. The brown stuff is, yes, cardboard. The black thing is the 15000 mah battery pack, seems like it's way overkill. We'll see how it holds up.

Native ESP8266 BrewPi Firmware - WiFi BrewPi, no Arduino needed!

For what its worth, I went ahead and made this. I originally tested a Wemos D1 Pro and 1 DS18B20 and the LCD on a 15,000 mAh battery pack and it lasted about 3.5 days. After researching this a bit, what made most sense / was easiest was to add another Wemos D1 Pro into the mix and utilize the...

Native ESP8266 BrewPi Firmware - WiFi BrewPi, no Arduino needed!

Hey @Thorrak I have an idea for an enhancement; I typically use this just for temperature monitoring, i'm not in a position to start controlling things yet. Sometimes my fermenter is in an inconvenient place and running wires too it causes traffic issues in my house. I've tried powering it...

What I did for beer today

How bad is my soldering job on these bungs? I made sure everything was clean with isopropyl and did acid flux and followed brewhardware's video and I still got a lot of black and bubbles. They at least kind of cleaned up with a wire brush. I'm going to pressure test the keg tomorrow. ...

What I did for beer today

It's just the standard 3/8" coil from Home Depot / Lowes. The fittings were like $1 each with another $6 piece of 3/8" OD. It's been in my basement sitting there for a few years so I don't even think about the cost any more.

Test fitting. The coil leans over and separates to the unsupported side hence the wire to try to keep it together. More to come, 5 minutes of work at a time.

What I did for beer today

Still slowly working on it. I don't know what I'm doing. The coil is a 50 ft er from Home Depot, wrapped around a corny keg; it's 11" tall which is quite high, so I assume some of it will be exposed to air versus in hot water after I mash in. The holes in the keg are close to each other which...

    Harden Cooler Foam

I cut a hole in my cooler to put in a thermowell. The interior foam crumbles whenever I touch it. Do you guys have any recommended way to harden the foam that surrounds the thermowell fitting?

The OneWire example set to pin 12 (D6 on the WEMOS) finds the DS18B20s with no problem. I am confused.
