    What hop combination will get me grapefruit and pine?

    Simcoe/Amarillo combo has been a go to for me. Try Alpine Duet if you want to get a feel of the profile. And if you get the chance, Comet/Citra is a superb combo as well.

    But for ales, I can comfortably ferment at 63* and up. I really do love the Ss Chronical. I've had it for 3 years now and my beers have improved dramatically due to proper temp control.

    I live in Texas, so I don't believe my ambient house temp would allow for me to lager. I feel the pump would be working in overdrive.

    I used a cooler with frozen ice bottles for a while. I ended up drilling two holes into a spare kegerator I had and use a corney keg for chill water source. Now it is set it and forget it.

    I just kicked a keg of Centennial Blonde that I fermented with S05. It came out tasting like a Belgian too. I've never had that with S05. I wonder if it is a batch issue.

    2016 Hop Growing Thread

    Seeing how the Summer Sulstice is right around the corner, do I have time to add more "grow" nutes? I'm using a 3-3-3 Sea Tea. Recently my plants have had some explosive growth and I'm starting to see the beginning of side arms. Should I add one more dose of "grow" or switch to "bloom"?

    Citric acid

    I'm trying to input Citric acid in Bruwater. What is the acid strength/ molarity? I bought a bottle of LD Carlsons. It doesn't state on the label or anywhere online. All I could find was that one teaspoon will drop ph .1%

    Thanks for the quick reply. I had scissors in hand ;-) One more question: When should i nute? I have some Sea Tea 2-3-2, Botanicare Pure Blend Pro 3-2-4 and SuperThrive. I'm thinking it is still too early...?

    This is one of my hop crowns that I received from Great Lakes Hops. It has been in the ground for 2.5 weeks. I live in North Texas. Are these "bull shoots"? Should I cut them back?

    New Boil Kettle Advice

    I started with a keggle. It was overkill for my use (5gal batches). They also get real heavy during cleaning at the end of the brew day. I went with two ten gal Megapots on special at Northernbrewer. The temp probe starts at the 4 gal mark. Something to think about if you plan on making 3 gal...
