    Grain Mill or Wort Pump?

Update: I want to thank all of you for the replies! Today I bought a double side adjustable schmidling mill. I will be conditioning the grain and brewing tomorrow. For all the pump voters out there I will be investing in one as well some where down the road.

    Grain Mill or Wort Pump?

Thank you guys for all the great comments! I very heavily leaning towards the mill now, I think being able to produce better beer and dial in my recipes out weighs the convenience of a pump. I will however redesign my system to allow gravity to do more work for me on brew day. Any suggestions...

    Potable water hose question

Well old_tx_kbb I think you've successfully hit a hot debate. It all boils down (no pun intended) to what "YOU" feel is safe and the risk/reward you would gain by using a pocket hose. Remember we aren't drinking your beer, you are.

    Potable water hose question

I use a potable hose to dispense into my kettles to boil like you. I also use a pocket hose to clean up after brew day. I agree with billl I wouldn't make beer with the water from it, it's not worth the risk.

    Grain Mill or Wort Pump?

Here is my dilemma. Eventually I will purchase both a pump and a mill, but as the 2014 brew season winds up I've been debating on which I should invest in first. I use two keggles and a large cooler to produce 10gal all-grain batches. I get my grain crushed at my LHBS and I have been getting...

4 Grain Double IPA Recipe Help

Just my two cents, but if you want to "dry" the beer out and keep it from being malty then try a lower mash temp. You would want to start in the lower 140's and gradually raise the temp into the high 150's. Good article I keep in my archive...

Counterflow Wort Chiller Build (and use)

Built mine last week from your design. Used it this weekend and LOVED IT, easily saved me 2 hours of work(brewed 10gal batch and 5 gallon batch). We have well water, but it was going in at 200F and coming out 68F. I regulated the flow with a hose clamp on the discharge end. Can't wait to use...

Other than shopping at your LHBS where do you order supplies and ingredients from? I have been using morebeer.com I just want to see where everyone else orders from. I order grains and extracts mostly.

Hello from the Quakertown PA area

I have noticed a lot of brewers from NJ and Eastern PA on here. I have been to Keystone Homebrew many times and i also would recommend them to anyone. Know of any other good stores in the area?

Hello from the Quakertown PA area

Hello everyone. I have been homebrewing for about 4 years now. Three years in Daytona Beach FL and 1 in Quakertown PA. I use a 50 qt. SS brew pot and a LP burner to do mostly extract brews. I really would like to get into all grain brewing, i am currently working on a 10 gallon Insulated mash...
