2.5 Tier Brew Stand - Design Questions

If it were me, I would move the HLT to the top, put the BK under the HLT, and then put the MT where you have the BK now. In that configuration you could gravity drain from your HLT to your MT and use you pump to recirculate, transfer to the BK, and for whirl-pooling, etc.

Monitoring/controlling with Linux on the cheap

That's what I'm going to use too, as I have the USB dongle and I found a RJ-12 die for my crimper. That's disappointing the sensors are not more accurate at higher temperatures, but I guess they'll be fine for what I'm going to use them for. I'm only going to monitor HLT, Mash, and Cooling...

Did you re-wire everything with RJ-12 jacks and cables or did you go with RJ-45?

Monitoring/controlling with Linux on the cheap

Here's a link to what I've been using. It's a zip file that has the steelseries code and a hacked up version of the html file you posted earlier in the thread. I also added a mash and boil timer to it.

You're talking about hiding the little red triangle, right? I wonder if I have a different version of steelseries.js? My copy is on my laptop at work. I'll dig it out tomorrow and post it if you want to take a look at it.

    SQ14 Burner

I bought mine from Home Depot a couple of years ago. I got it on clearance around the end of August.

Cheap options for a small Linux server/controller

Take a look at mono. I don't have any real experience with it, but it may be a place to start. http://www.mono-project.com/Main_Page I see Yuri beat me to it.

    Safety of disposable oxygen tanks

On the first Saturday of every month, the county I live in will take things like these, propane tanks, oil, paint, and such. Check with your county and see if they do something like that.

Anyone in the Sarasota FL area?

I'll be leaving a few days before you get there. We go almost every year. The movie theater is up where 41 splits to 301 (if you go to the right) just before the marina. EDIT: Just realized this was an old thread.

    Crown cap printing

Yeah, no problems with the ones I have. My wife got some for me at Christmas. They're a little pricey, but if you are doing something special, or bottling some to give away they look nice. Just don't soak them in sanitizer, a quick dip or spray and you're good to go.

    auto-siphon......problem ????

Get yourself some 5/16" ID tubing and you should be good to go. The 3/8" ID tubing is too big to get a good seal on the auto siphon.

I've got this on deck for tomorrow too.

    First label

Looks good. Try Inkscape for your text. There's even a tutorial floating around for scrolls/ribbons and putting text on them.

    Mashed way high, unfermetables?

What did you decide to do? I have about the same situation here. Mine's not cloyingly sweet, it actually tastes pretty good. I think I'm going to bottle mine sometime next week, stick it in a Rubermaid tub, and hope for the best.

Cheap & Easy 10 Gallon Rubbermaid MLT Conversion

If you have a True Value (Ace) or a local Mom and Pop hardware store, try there. Places like that usually have a much better hardware selection than the big boxes.

Teach a Friend to Brew Day

We brewed a Dunkel, and there were a couple guys that were pretty interested in the process. I don't if any of them will ever pick it up on their own, but I may have gained some assistant brewers.
