Brown beer w. pumpkin spice will not carbonate

I brewed a brown ale for Thanksgiving from a recipe I have used several times before wo. issues. As an experiment I added some powered pumpkin spice mix, about 2 tablespoons for 5gals. The beer has been on kegs w. app. 20psi of pressure for several months, but it will not carbonate. I have even...

Another Kegerator / Fermentation chamber idea -> Need feedback

Hi All I have a refridgerator kegerator in the garage sitting at 35F, which currently is holding 3 kegs at the bottom and bottles/cans/sodas on top. It is like this one. I need a place to ferment lagers, and since this fridge is really not that tall my idea was to build an insulated...

    Alternative to heatstick

I have been looking at most of the heatstick threads here at the forum. What I really need the heatstick for is to do step mashing. I will not need it for boil, so I figured I could use a lower wattage element say 1000 -1500w. Basically I need to be able to heat the mash (5gal batches)...

    Autosiphon seal leaking

My Auto-siphon is leaking in the seam between the cane and the tube. It basically sucks air in from the tube above and mixes the beer with air throughout the tube. In testing it I tried to pour some water on top of the seal (in the tube) and it slowly sucks the water down though the seal...

    Spring Ale recipe?

I am looking for a good spring ale recipe (All-Grain). Something like Redhook's Copperhook. Must use Cascade Hops however ('cause that's what I got). I was thinking about Ed Wort's Haus Pale Ale but perhaps tone down the hops a bit ? Thanks for any suggestion! Hommel Homebrew

    Tuborg Classic (Vienna Lager) Recipe?

I am getting setup for lagering. Made the argument with SWMBO that I then would be able to brew Tuborg Classic for her, which she really likes. So now I am getting tempcontrolled refrigerator / kegerator for my birthday. Although she really likes this Classic beer, she really dislikes Sam Adams...

Will external temp regulator hurt my fridge

I am getting into lagering and kegging. Got the fridge, but still need the external temperature controller/regulator. I am thinking that the switching on and off might hurt the compressor in the fridge. Is that the case? Do the regulator sense when the fridge is off (by the amount of...

Reuse Chiller water (Not for Carboy brewers)

I just read a thread on the first brewing experience, where the guy is worried about all the water he uses to chill his wort. I thought I would tell what I usually do. Before chilling I transfer my hot wort to the fermentation vessel (I use a plastic bucket which makes this trick work)...

    Rosmarin !?

Has anybody tried to add rosmarin to the boil? I love the rosmarin flavor, but I think it would need to be put in early on, like what you do with a good pasta sauce. Any ideas for other herbs?
