    Fermentation finished already?

quick update: I bottled off the beers and the ones with slightly less sugar in the bottle turned out better, combined with leaving them outside in the british autumn weather I got some cracking beers after about 5 or 6 weeks. They had a slight San Miguel kind of taste to them. Strong too!

    Reading a hydrometer

Hey guys, looking at my instructions with my brew kit, it has the formula for alcohol content and the OG and FG are expressed as 1042 and 1006 - now looking at my hydrometer it isn't written like that, I have hopefully added a photo to show what mines like. Sunday there was a nice foamy head, yesterday some BIG bubbles and a nice beery smell. I came in from work today and it looks...

    Beer too strong....?

Oh and I used 800g dextrose, saving 100g for priming (I have a pressure barrel for storage) and 6 bottles to prime with the leftover sugar to drink first when it's ready

Hi all, new guy here. I got one of those cheap Wilko home brew kits with a Pilsner malt and set it up this weekend. It's fermenting away nicely I think! I went to a local brew shop since I got the kit and was sold some spray malt by the owner who agreed with my idea it may help the end...
