    1st Trip to LHBS

Where do you live? Maybe someone can recommend a better LHBS.

Where the Bejebus do you get your Bottles?

I'm in Bedford and will need more bottles soon. I can pay you a little something for them and will come pick them up. Message me if you want to get rid of them.

This Wit is not white. What did I do?

I just posted about this over in the beginner's forum and wish either of my LHBS had bothered to tell me this. I really screwed this recipe up with LME and way too much coriander. What a disappointment. I'm still just extract brewing with specialty grains - don't have the space or money for...

my ridiculously expensive celis clone is terrible...

I'd love to have your recipe. Can you get that soft wheaten mouth feel from an extract? I'm sipping this one now and like someone else mentioned, it'll probably be nice to cook with, but this isn't a pleasurable drinking beer. Maybe I'll wash my hair with it. Here's what I did: 4 oz...

my ridiculously expensive celis clone is terrible...

how expensive? well after some bad advice from a LHBS i dumped the first pitch-black wort on the compost pile, sans the spices. had already slapped the yeast pack, so that went on the pile too. the 3 # of raw clover honey in the wort - ditto! i still had all of the good spices: coriander...

    Hey ya'll... Let's brew.

Dear ol' dad is a gem and he's getting into homebrewing too, though he sticks with his Mr. Beer, for now. I keep suggesting that he up the ante and go with something a little tougher, a little bigger and alot more enjoyable. Slow and steady. Cheers!

    Hey ya'll... Let's brew.

I've already posted a few, and have lurked for a long while. Someone pointed out that not introducing yourself is rude and this southerner never wants to be rude. I'm 35, and live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. I brewed my first beer 10 years ago with a Mr. Beer kit and didn't brew again...

    I <3 New Belgium

Exactly! They are doing it right. That's a beer company with heart and soul and even if I didn't like the Skinny Dip, because they were cool, I'll tell every beer nerd I know about how I was treated. Thats priceless advertising. I just brewed a Celis White clone 3 weeks ago, so I'm pretty...

    I <3 New Belgium

Three weeks ago I bought a six pack of their Skinny Dip ale. Label says it has coriander and kaffir lime leaf, two things I like the flavors of. Got it home, popped a couple for my housemate and myself, took a sip, and felt sort of green. It was skunked. So I email them a letter, expecting...

Why wasting your time? Nah. I aspire to the AG stuff. Rock on.

What piece of equip to buy next?

I'm off to research the counter flow chiller. If it saves water I like it! As for siphoning, I've been struggling with this since I started and hate this part of racking. My LHBS sells an auto siphon for 13 bucks and I'm thinking if it reduces the amount of cursing in my kitchen on...

What piece of equip to buy next?

Whoa fat boy! ;) Still perfecting my extract tech. Not ready for the major leagues just yet.

What piece of equip to buy next?

If it won't set me back too much. I'm a make-it-yourself kind of girl and my step dad happens to have quite a bit of copper tubing that he's offered to sacrifice, so maybe this is right up my alley. I do try to stay "green" and compost all of my spent grains and other bits, and I hate using all...

What piece of equip to buy next?

I hope I didn't miss an already existing forum that addresses this. I've been steadily brewing since Nov. 07, started with a Mr. B33R and after one batch, knew I wanted something bigger, better and with more bells and whistles. Skip ahead a few months and I've got 4 five gallon brewing...

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Ginger Ale

I just made your ginger ale this week with a couple of changes. I added the ginger to the wort in 3 additions to get the sweet mellow ginger flavor and the spiciness. I saved about a 1/3 of it to add to the secondary, as you suggested, and I subbed lime for the lemon and added the peel of one...
