    Why do you hate brewing?

Amen, brother! Except I take up the kitchen...late at night...after cleaning it. What I'm trying to say is that she has no real reason to complain.

    What affects the head?

@Weezy I've only brewed this once. I want to start looking into an all grain recipe for it.

    What affects the head?

I've only made this one once. So signs are pointing to my priming sugar distribution or to the oils in the peanut butter powder. I could have gently stirred with a sanitized spoon, but I didn't. Live and learn. I'll definitely make this one again. It turned out great, other than the head...

    What affects the head?

I used powdered peanut butter. The taste is there. A real in-your- face peanut butter experience. It may just be my bottle carbonation. Some of the bottles have produced a head, and others haven't. Carbonation is pretty even from the almost dozen that I've either drank or seen opened by...

    What affects the head?

So it was quite probably the peanut butter. Everything ease that you've mentioned either wasn't used or was done well.

    What affects the head?

Hello everyone! Today is the day that home brewers get excited for. The day you get to taste your hard work. For me, at least. I brewed a peanut butter Porter and it turned out great...except the head is small or very quick to dissipate. What affects this? It's bubbling like a soda, but...

    Why do you hate brewing?

God yes! It's that little pit in your stomach during the whole process. I've been told it's a good thing to worry.

    Just being new, here...

I like it. Like pre dry hopping.

    Just being new, here...

Please explain as best you can (like I'm five) the effects of temperature and length of time on the flavor. Does it vary between hops? Am I getting more bitterness the hotter it is, or am I almost exclusively getting aroma and flavor?

    Why do you hate brewing?

I hate bottling. Not because I have to scrub or peel off the abnormally secure labels on new(ish) bottles. I hate that I have to smell the beer that I've been so excited for for the past couple of weeks JUST to put it in bottles and wait two MORE weeks before I can enjoy it.

    Just being new, here...

What in THE WORLD is a hop stand? Is it a soak after flameout? That's what I'm thinking it is, but I'm not sure and I like facts.

    So...much...FOAM!!

Blowoff hose installed and so far so good. Bubbling happily and no longer making a mess. Thank you everyone!

    So...much...FOAM!!

@tektonjp this is my first time using hef yeast, yes. Haha. Startling for sure. @daksin the beer is at ambient temperature. Maybe just a hair higher. I was thinking the proteins were a contributing factor. Seeing as the yeast are vigorous and I aerated really well, the krausen makes...

    So...much...FOAM!!

Alright. The temperature is about 72°F and steady. I was just worried about infection since this thing is going nuts on me. I left about 10"-1' of space and the bung was set in pretty well. It's just foaming up through my valve...smells great, but kind of messy.

    Hello everyone!

Sweet. Thank you. I could use my siphon tube and a small bucket. The beer smells just fine, but my last batch hardly foamed at all. I was a little frightened.

    So...much...FOAM!!

So I brewed a porter last night. I'm using Hefeweizen yeast to get some of those delicious esters. I wake up this morning and there is so much foam I can't think. Two clean valves later and it's still ridiculous. Have I messed something up, or does this usually happen during fermentation...

    Hello everyone!

I've been brewing for about a month now. This forum has been super helpful. I'm glad to be a part of this community. My first of many questions. Is a lot of foam from a porter a normal thing? I brewed last night and this morning the valve was foamed through and it's a little frightening...
