I have a chronical on the way, I haven't used their equipment before. I'm thinking I might be able to skip the immersion chiller and have the FTSS cool down to pitching temps after the boil. Do any of you do this, how have you found it?

Hey Everyone, I've been looking at the SS e-kettle for a while. I already have a panel controller and element. Can anyone confirm if they use a standard tri-clamp fitting on the back? Could I just remove their Halo element and stick in a standard tri-clamp element in replacement?

Thanks for the replies, I should have been more clear - My carboy was frozen and the bung and airlock were solid bricks... the beer didn't actually freeze though - I managed to catch it before it went that far.

Long story short, my stc1000 bit the dust on my ferm chamber and decided to keep cooling until everything was around 2c. My carboys were about a week into primary and looked like they were still quite active. I'm going to ride this out and maybe pitch some more us05 if needed. Might be horrible...
