New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

A while back I really wanted to find a second style I could brew with London III/Juice so I wouldn't have to buy as many strains, so I decided to brew an ordinary bitter with it. Marris Otter and a touch of C20, Fuggles and EKG. It came out very hazy and drank kind of like a session hazy pale...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I just tried Bissell Brothers Swish for the first time and wow... what a fantastic beer. All the classic juicy tropical fruit flavors, but a little resiny pine and a much crisper body than a lot hazies. It reminds me a bit of Heady Topper and Sticky Hands which are two of my all time favorites...

American IPA The New West Coast IPA

I went 110:40 sulfate:chloride and it was perfect for me

Double IPA Pliny the Elder Clone

This looks excellent! Its nice to see an updated Pliny recipe that doesn't have like 0.75 oz dry hop.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I actually love candy sweetness from hops, like El Dorado, as long as its balanced. So if Krush is contributing some of that, then I'm into it.

Imperial Juice, pretty much the only yeast I use for hazies.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I think grain bill is one of the bigger factors for me. When I've gone up to 50% oat/wheat, my F.G. is much higher than a more typical mostly 2 row/pils bill.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I added 0.5 lb lactose, so I would have ended around 1.021 without it which is WAY higher than my typical 1.013-1.014 even mashing at 150. I built a pretty big 2 step starter but it overflowed quite a bit, so I may have underpitched. 9 days in the keg, it doesn't taste seriously flawed or...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Anyone got any tips for a kegged hazy with too high of a F.G.? I was expecting a bit more attenuation, added lactose, and ended up with a 7.5% hazy at 1.024. Maybe it will turn out ok on its own, but wondering if there's much that can be done.

    Spruce Tips

One of the best beers I ever made was a spruce tip wild ale. I soaked a ton of spruce tips in gin to make a tincture, and I think this technique would work well in other styles too. I wrote about it here: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/threads/spruce-wild-ale.654193/#post-8369450

Cold Crash Suckback Issue - Resolved

Some of these solutions seem way overcomplicated to me. I've been using mylar balloons that cost 36 cents a piece on amazon, fill them with a little co2 from the tank (it doesn't take much at all), and then tape it to a hose and connect to the fermentation vessel...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I just brewed a double hazy with the hop schedule below, all 2024 Krush. Fingers crossed, I've absolutely loved the combo in commercial beers. 0.15 oz Colombus 60 min (6 IBU) 2 oz Citra WP @ 170 (20 min) 2 oz Krush Lupomax WP @ 170 (20 min) 4 oz Citra DH 2 oz Citra Lupomax DH 6 oz Krush DH 2 oz...

Citra/Nelson Modern West Coast IPA Review Short story: I followed OP's recipe pretty closely and the beer came out fantastic! Long story: 10.75 lb Pils 4.25 lb 2 row 0.4 oz Warrior 60 min (16 IBU) 2 oz Citra 15 min (37 IBU) 2 oz Nelson whirlpool (5 IBU) 2 oz Citra whirlpool (5 IBU) 2 oz...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Looks great. What was your hop schedule and what does it taste like? I just used a scant 2 oz of Idaho 7 lupomax in the whirlpool of my mostly Mosaic NEIPA, and its still pretty harsh and earthy after a good amount of time in the keg.

    Hop Selections for German Pils

I've had my best luck with a Tettnanger/Hallertau combo, that was the only time my German Pils placed in a competition. My favorite commercial pilsners in general often have Saaz so I'd like to experiment more with that. I also have a Perle/Saphir/Spalt Select/Tettnanger pilsner planned soon...
