    Which Yeast Packs to Use

I got three selection premium wine kits when I bought some homebrew supplies from a guy quitting the addiction. They are older kits so I need to replace the yeast packs in them, but they don't say what type of yeast packs they are. Any advice on what type of yeast to get would be helpful. They...

    Northern Nut Brown Ale Help

I made Northern's Nut Brown Ale Extract Kit for Thanksgiving. I thought the beer had a good taste, but the body was kind of light. Anyone have any suggestions to give this kit a heavier taste? Here is what the kit came with. Specialty Grains * 0.25 lbs. Simpson's Chocolate * 0.25...

    Self Closing Keg Tap

This might be old news, but I thought it was a pretty good idea for party kegs. SELF CLOSING BALL LOCK KEG BEER FAUCET @ Williams Brewing

    Poppet O-Ring

I have noticed that the poppet valve springs on kegs have a special shaped o-ring on them. Is there a place like McMasters that sells that o-ring, instead of having to buy a new poppet valve?

Should I move my Bock from its primary?

I bought a Northern Bock Extract Kit and brewed it up two weeks ago. Last night I checked the gravity and got a reading of 1.042. It has been fermenting at 50*. The OG was 1.066 (forgot to put the temp in my notes, but it was around 60*-65* at time of reading). One of the employees at...

    Beer Gas

Can you hook up a nitrogen tank and a CO2 tank with a "T" and adjust the valves for a 30/70 % mix to make beer gas? Or does it have to come pre-mixed?

    Stout Faucet

I am planning on building a new house next year and will finally get my play room/bar in the basement. I have been collecting the parts and bought a 3 port ceramic tower, perlick faucets, and a stout faucet for guinness clones. My question is, do you guys that are set up with stout faucets...

    Perlick Faucets Bought Off Ebay

I was looking for some perlick faucets for my future bar and saw that people were bidding as high on ebay as new ones could be bought for. I emailed this guy after his sale ended and asked what four faucets would cost me if I bought them directly through paypal. He ended up selling me four...

    Bud Ale recipe?

Had a chance to try the new Budweiser Ale the other night and have to say I liked it. Anybody know of a similar extract Ale recipe that is already out there?

    Hop substitutes?

Looking through "Clone Brews", there is a recipe for Bass Ale. The original recipe calls for Northdown @ 9% AA (9HBU) hops, and Challenger Hops. Since I can't find them, can I substitute German Northern Hops for the Northdown, and Kent Goldings for the Challenger?

Wyeast #2206 Bavarian Lager Yeast. Optimum temperature: 46-56° F.

I am going to brew the Northern Bock Lager on Sunday. Search Results The kit was ordered with Wyeast 2206 Bavarian Yeast which has fermentation ranges of 46-56*. This will be my first lager, so I was wondering if I should just pick the middle temperature of the range 51* and lager at that, or...

    Hefe tastes watery

I did a Midwest Hanks Hefe and it tastes a little watery. I started off with 7 gallons of water and had one gallon boil off. I did a secondary on it ( I know people say you don't need a secondary with a Hefe) and ended up with around 5 1/2 gallons. I forgot to take the starting gravity when I...

    Active Fermentation In Secondary

I brewed a Muntons Nut Brown Ale that was given to me, over 3 weeks ago. The fermentation seemed to go very fast and appeared to be done within 4 days, but I left it in the primary till day 11th. The OG was 1.045 and the SG was 1.015 upon transfer to the secondary. It has been 12 days in the...

    Primary taking a long time?

I bought some used beer equipment from a guy and he threw in 7 Select Premium wine kits that were old and sitting in his garage. I thought what the heck, I am only out water and a few fresh chemicals I had to buy to get them going. I made the Merlot on July 10th, and 22 days later it is still...

    Degassing Wine?

Could somebody please explain to me the process of degassing wine? When is it done? Why is it done? And is hooking a paddle to a drill the best way to do it?

    Primary Fermentation

I have been trying to read up and learn something about wine making. One article I read stated that for the first 48-72 hrs of the must going into the primary, you should not use an airlock but instead cover the carboy opening with a fine cloth or put cotton in the bung hole. Then after this...

Old Selection Premium Kit. Will it work?

I bought out a homebrewer who got out of the business. I can't complain because there is about $1300 worth of stuff that I got for $100. My question is, he had 7 Selection Premium Wine Kits that are probably several years old. I opened up the Merlot one, and it still tasted okay so I watched a...

Starter doesn't appear to be doing anything

I was planning on brewing a hefe Wednesday and started my liquid starter on Saturday night. I used 400ml water and 1/2 cup light DME and boiled it for 20 minutes. Then chilled to 70* and added my WYeast 3068 WHNSTPHN W yeast to the batch and put it on my homemade spinner. On the last yeast...

    Suntory Beer

When I was in college I worked in a liquor store and they had a Japanese rice beer called Suntory. I recalled it tasted pretty good. Any body ever heard of it or know how to brew it?
