GRABASS lunch this week (Raleigh, NC)

Guys- we are having a little bit of a meltdown here at work, so I am not sure what time I am going to be getting out of here, but it won't be for a while. I will post back when i have more details.

GRABASS lunch this week (Raleigh, NC)

no kidding. he was almost going to let us go, then asked if we had anyone in the area to call-GRABASS to the rescue. He was cool about it, and was actually chatting with us until Boston showed up. Got up a 6am this morning and took a ride over to get the rental, and was at work by 8am.

Nice!! Well, I think Walker guessed columbus and you guessed Simcoe, so you were not that far off. Grainbill is pretty straightforward, jus a matter of getting the hop schedule right. That was a really good beer. I forgot to ask the cop if he ever had it:cross:

Back at the hotel safe and sound- many thanks to Boston and his lovely SWMBO as the cop could not bust us but would not let us drive away. We hitched a ride and will pick up the rent a wreck in the morning. It was a very interesting experience, as we were only going as fast as the car in front...

I am on the ground in Apex, at my company's facility. Got in last night. I am staying at the Hampton Inn in Cary, which is adjacent to the hospital. Our facility is a mile or so off of 1 on 55, on Technology Drive.

THE MAIN EVENT: All Grain vs Extract

RALPH RALPH RALPH RALPH!!!!! Since they were not radio butttons, I checked em all. Just did my 1st AG Friday night. I have had great luck so far in my brew career w/extract and mini mash. I will post back in ~6 weeks when my AG batch is done. Not for nothing, but I am drinking a Magic hat...

First AG- some thoughts so far

Gotta love homebrew-cam!!! I used to use the spray bottle with my partial boils-very easy way to keep em in control.

I suppose if you do a 10 or 6 Gal batch you would push it. This was the first batch I have done in it so far.

    Sanke Keg pot-tough to boilover 7+gal in a 15 gal pot:D

First AG- some thoughts so far

Yeah. I was just doing 2 row and crystal. I know that there are some brews that do better with the hulls. Once I get my base mashing down I will start worrying about that:D

Nice. I actually got a great sparge too, but without any rice hulls. I am using a converted sanke 15Gal keg with a turkey fryer. I never have to wait for boils anymore!:rockin:

Yep- I got that too. I like your pre chiller. did you use an immersion without it or have you always had it? I have some copper left over from when I built mine last year, and I have a spare cooler.
