    Witbier Witbier with raspberry

I would not boil- that will remove some flavor. I would soak the thawed berries in vodka to sanitize.

    Witbier Witbier with raspberry

I used a 49oz can of raspberry puree from Vitners Best https://www.homebrewing.org/Vintners-Harvest-Raspberry-Puree-49oz_p_304.html No boil, no fuss, just sanitize the lid before opening.

Ideas wanted for a simple recipe to show off using home grown wet hops

I initially got mine for the same reason- it grows up to my deck, then over a sitting area for shade & ambience. But damn if it's not putting out a ton of cones- and I hate to not try a batch. Hell, a buddy that worked for Coke just got me three more pin lock cornies so why not do some...

    Ripe?

Good plan there. I'd say that this far into the growing season you are not going to hurt any further cone development by pruning some of the lower bine leaves. Just don't go too far with that, as the leaves are using photosynthesis to feed the rhizome as it prepares to go dormant for...

Ideas wanted for a simple recipe to show off using home grown wet hops

I'm thinking a dunk in some vodka should kill any nasties on board. I'm also thinking that instead of 2 row base, I go with some mid level malts like vienna or munich for richer flavor, a tad bit of crystal, and maybe a bit of oats for mouthfeel. A warmer than usual mash, say 154 held for 60...

Ideas wanted for a simple recipe to show off using home grown wet hops

So my second year crop of Brewers Gold will be harvested in several weeks. I plan on going from bine to boil immediately, for the fun of it. No particular style I'm thinking 10-12 pounds of 2 row, 1oz of Magnum pellets at 60, and then about 15 oz of fresh/wet Brewers Gold at flameout, with some...

    Witbier Witbier with raspberry

I made an all grain Appalachian Raspberry Wheat from Brewer Dudes and it is fantastic. I used 1 liter of raspberry puree so my abv was a bit higher at 4.2%. I also added a small bottle of raspberry extract at kegging time. Definitely a keeper!

    Ripe?

Beware spraying your hops with anything if you don't want traces of it in your boil. I'd rather boil some mites than pyrethrin

    I need help!

I don't see a lot of brown spots, but get little holes in some of the leaves do to insect activity. T At this late in the game, it does not seem too have much impact on the cones. 1st year is the toughest. Next spring you are gonna be surprised at how many bines take off. I had hops plants...

Here is my super cheap, basic stir plate. It gets the job done. 1. Get an old computer fan Wire it to a variable voltage adapter like this old one I had lying around: Get an old hard drive and pry it open to get the magnet: Glue magnet to the center of the fan: Put "risers" on the...

    Carbing the keg confession.......

OK, I admit it, I am a slacker in some of the ways of our craft. In particular, when it comes to carbing the keg, I just put the keg in the keezer, get it cold, hook up the CO2 post, and let it carb- allowing the gauge to go to 30, and backing it off. The next day, I do the same. When it stays...
