Just bottled an IPA that was in fermentor for 2.5 years

I too would like to hear the results from this. I kinda hope it turns out to be something really cool.

    8 days and still bubbling

If you didn't put too much sugar in, and it sounds like you didn't, then you will be fine and should not have the need to vent CO2. In 2 to 3 weeks, you are going to have some grubbin beer. Remember to keep the bottles around 70 degrees while they carb up. Ya gotta relax man, everything you...

How often do you guys brew?

I have been brewing about once a month. Sometimes I will do a second batch pretty close together, but overall about once a month. However, that was during the construction of my keezer. Now that that is done, I have to figure out how much I need on deck to replenish supply. I would hate to leave...

Worst Commercial Beer You've Ever Had?

They serve that here in the US too. I kinda feel bad for sorta liking it now... Haha. My least favorite beer? Pabst. That is literally the worst anything I have ever tasted. Oh, and I have seen a couple of people mention Hamm's as being terrible. According to my father, it was way...

    Sour taste and smell

Howdy, Being that I recently did both the Brickwarmer Holiday Red, and NB Smashing Pumpkin Extract kits, I feel like I might be able to lend a hand. The banana-ish flavor and smell sounds a lot like a fermentation temp issue. I have had that in some beers using S-04 yeast and warmer temps. The...

    Grandpa's Beer Recipe

You totally should try to reproduce it. I have a feeling...

Star san got introduced into finished un carbed beer

Assuming that the sanitizer was properly diluted, I do not believe that the amount you stated will affect your brew. If it was a gallon or more, then probably. Like has been suggested, try some. It won't kill you but you should know pretty quick if there are any off flavors from it.

How long does it take you to rack your beer?

What are these items, and why do you do them? I have never seen anyone do this...

    Cooling Wort with cold water

I'll throw my hat in here as well. I brew extract kits, and I think it is important to note that, just because you brew extract, it does not mean that you only brew 2.5 gallons at a time and dilute. I brew in a large pot that requires about 5 gallons of water for the water to be high enough...

You never know, hose water might become your secret ingredient! ;)

When is the best time to add yeast energizer, yeast nutrient etc.

Is it clear juice? Then you wont need it. If it isn't clear juice, then you probably will. I find that I should have used it in mine because the cider isn't clearing. Pectic Enzyme is really only to get the pectins that are floating in suspension to drop out, so the only thing that would happen...

    Cherry Apple Cider

Well, I'm far from an expert but I would say you might need to look into the pasteurization sticky for how to get some carbed bottled cider. As far as sugar, the hydrometer reading at the beginning will help with calculating your ABV, but if you want to sweeten it, you may need some wine...

Want to Get Into Kegging - Need Feedback on Potential System

http://www.kegconnection.com/1-faucet-basic-homebrew-kegerator-kit/ Keg Connection was one of the recommended names I saw around here quite a bit, and their systems can be a bit cheaper. Personally, I ended up going with a Ball lock system with everything purchased from my LBHS. I ended up...

    Staying Healthy while Brewing

Ok, so there is a ton of really good information here, but I wanted to see if I could clarify something for those who may not be familiar with how the calories in vs calories out equation works. Anyone who has "debunked" (no matter how well respected) the equation is misleading what they are...

A modest proposal to the people of the New World

Not much really. We have done it with store bought beer, no reason why it would take any more. One vial should be more than enough. Well, depending on how green i suppose

    Homebrewing Needs a Woman's Touch

No. I realize that I am new here, but I do not think you can get off the hook like that. The people here who are active and care about this community have almost universally agreed that you are full of crap by making assumptions that because there may be a small group of sexist people in...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I will be brewing the NB Chocolate Milk Stout this weekend. I picked up all of the ingredients from my LHBS and will be doing that. Also, I will be painting the collar for my keezer with automotive paint. The collar is built, but I will give it a final sand and probably primer it either tonight...

    AHA Membership. Why/Why Not?

You almost remembered correctly, and fortunately the situation is not quite that bleak. Its 15 gallons per 3 month period, so 60 gallons a year. For a single person, probably ok, but people are going to need to band together and share to make it work for groups. Perhaps obviously, dry counties...
