    Your favourite AK recipe?

I haven't brewed with S-04 in years. I do recall it settling out exceptionally well but having a tart quality to it. Can't say much about the flavor content it brought other than it was subtle. Might not be a bad idea to try 1099 with it, but one thing I would say is that I am less inclined...

    Your favourite AK recipe?

A very belated update to my brew session. Just wanted to comment on the difference between the beer brewed with Verdant and 1099. I had the GF try them both and then I sampled. The Verdant beer was thinner, a little more of a hoppy note, to me it had a slight metallic (penny) smell & taste...

So I got the beers kegged this morning. The taste/smell samples were very different from each other (not shocked!) Going on vacation for 5 days so they should be ready to sample when I get back home!

Thanks Mark! It was a super easy-going brew day and things went pretty smooth. I didn't get to drop yeast until a few hours after the session because our ground water is pretty toasty in California right now and couldn't get things chilled down super quick.

    Your favourite AK recipe?

Brew day so far is going off without a hitch (other than my OG being off by a couple of points...) I've updated my recipe based on my hops AA and my efficiency. Hopefully the link works: SomethingOldeAK | British Golden Ale All Grain Beer Recipe at Brewer's Friend I'm going to place 2 gallons...

    Your favourite AK recipe?

If I had some S-04 floating... I'd be inclined to try that! So I have all of my grains together. I'm wondering since this may be construed as a keeping beer (age it a month or two?)... would a touch of oak be appropriate?

1914 Courage Imperial Stout - Which One?

Haha! I'm 90% the cook so I have a fair bit of latitude in the kitchen. I suspect I would ban myself if I ever had a major spill in there though... :-S

    Your favourite AK recipe?

I'm gonna shoot for this next weekend if possible, but I need to place an order so I'm at the mercy of others... This is what I was thinking for a recipe: OG: 1.043 FG: 1.010 ABV 4.4% IBU's: 35-40 SRM: 5.31 40% Thomas Fawcett Golden Promise 40% Rahr 6-Row 10% Flaked Corn 10% Invert...

Would like to do one of these! Not sure when... but I'll post an update when it comes around. I have some 1099 yeast kicking around (and a pound of flaked corn) so maybe sooner than later?

English Ales - What's your favorite recipe?

I agree with Northern Brewer on this. My take on this style is not Fullers, but it is an inspiration for sure! I actually cut the crystal a bit in this one (it was originally around the 13% mark). A few of the english beers I've brewed (dark mild is one of my other favorites) use a heftier...

English Ales - What's your favorite recipe?

Not too far off! :) I'm tempted to streamline the recipe some more and just go with 5% chocolate, but I like the softer flavor of the pale chocolate/chocolate wheat combo. I'm a big fan of Fullers London Porter and Samuel Smiths Taddy Porter so this a bit of both.

English Ales - What's your favorite recipe?

I have a brown porter that I'm still in the process of tweaking, but it is settling in on these numbers and I'm pretty happy with it! 75% Golden Promise, 10% Brown malt, 10% UK C80, 4% UK Pale Chocolate, 1% Chocolate Wheat . 20 IBU's of EKG @ 30 minutes. Mash around 154-156 for some extra...

    Cats

Devil baby #1 & #2 on their Tower of Terror. They're brother and sister and are ex-warehouse mousers from work. I was volunteered to be their new owner at some point.. Not sure how that happened! They're pretty awesome cats and keep the house bug free and are snuggle-beasts. :-D

    Thoughts on my first recipe?

I hope not! :-D I don't know anything about your brewing rig, but I would like to think that between your extra rice hulls and the rest of the grain bill you should be okay. You could always do a protein rest to cut down the gum of the oats. I've never had to do one, but then again I've...

    Thoughts on my first recipe?

For a first brew it looks pretty simple and that's what you want. I would say the only boogey man could be a stuck mash with all of that oaty goodness, but it looks like you're aware of that.

    Beginner brew equipment

I'm with kartracer2. Keep it simple and see if this is something you want to do long term. I started off doing all grain and I'm very happy that I did. That being said I started on small batches (1-2 gallons each). I'd rather have a few different brews on tap to choose from then being stuck...

    If you could start over...

I've found 2 gallon batches to be my happy spot. I just found that I don't drink enough (or share enough perhaps?) to justify brewing more than that. I of course had to learn the hard way what my sweet spot was... I have quite a bit of little used equipment at this point that I'm gonna have...
