What came in the mail for you today?

I got the stainless steel ball valve setup for a keggle from bargain fittings. Tossed it in and water tested and it worked fine after a little extra tightening. Once I find a lid my keggle will be ready which is just a nicety but I have to modify my immersion chiller also.

    Highest ABV?

I made a 9.5% Belgian tripel. Haven't tastes yet as it was just made 3 weeks ago. Went to give atleast 6 weeks before sampling.

What I did for beer today

I kegged my Irish red that had been cold crashing. After that is when the fun started. I cleaned 3 kegs I had sitting around that were recently emptied. I also started brewing my honey wheat that everyone but my wife likes (she has yet to like one of my beers, not bland enough I guess). On top...

What I did for beer today

Let's see. I plugged in my freezer with temp control and placed a keg of water in there after it got to temp the first time to probably cold crash my American honey wheat. Took the fg reading on the American honey wheat and an IPA I brewed. the wheat came out to about 5.9% abv and my IPA came...

What I did for beer today

I did a good bit today however most of it was rearranging the garage for the new freezer. So that took a couple hours out of the day. Then I decided to sample my bourbon vanilla porter which was really good but I think needs some more time sitting in the keg. I mounted the temp controller but...

What I did for beer today

Today I assembled a sct-1000 for use with my freezer I bought off Craigslist recently. I also finished painting the fridge as it was beat and a bit rusty but isn't anymore. I still have to figure out how I'm going to go about getting heat in there. Might order a heat lamp from amazon, didn't...

What I did for beer today

Well today I kegged and force carbed my Irish red. I haven't tried it yet as it's only about 12 days old. Smelled good. Will likely sample tomorrow. Yesterday I kegged my bourbon vanilla porter. In about an hour I'm going to look at my English brown.

    Wheat beer recipe

I wouldn't say to not do a wheat as your first all grain as it was my first however some valid points were made. My first ever brew day was an all grain franziskaner clone ( google it I don't have quick access on my phone). My efficiency for the batch was only 50% which I thought was pretty bad...

    First brew - Franziskaner clone

Yeah the other part of my post that I lost as I wasn't logged in on my computer is I keep my house from 66-71 depending on weather outside/ time of year. Lately I've been in the 60s as it's winter in fl. By summer time I intend on having a fermentation chamber but till then im house temp only...

    First brew - Franziskaner clone

Bah for not logging in on my computer before trying to post a response. I appreciate the tips IslandLizard. Unfortunately the current spot is the only good place I have for fermenting until I can drop the dough for a fermentation chamber for the garage. I might go ahead and put some of the...

    First brew - Franziskaner clone

I had some tubing for my auto siphon that I just rigged this up with and put about a quart of starsan mix in a pitcher and tossed the tube in.

    First brew - Franziskaner clone

Well I guess I could use some advice. The airlock over flowed with beer / whatever. Is it worth taking off, cleaning and replacing or just leave it as is? It's still bubbling. Here's a picture of it

    First brew - Franziskaner clone

Well, I completed my first brew day today. I hit some issues here and there but in the end I ended up with ~1.050 OG. Efficiency in beer smith said 50% :(. This was a fransikaner clone I found on here earlier. I mashed around 151 then readings went upto 153. It was supposed to be 150 for 9min...
