    AHS IPA directions

I am brewing an all grain AHS IPA this sunday and after reading the directions that came with the kit, they seem a little generic with the ingredients just filled in. What I want to know is if I should use a single infusion mash at 150 like the directions say or kick it up to 153-154 like I see...

    Cinnamon and Brown Sugar Cider

We drank this cider on Christmas and I got great reviews. Everyone loved it. Here’s my notes: 06/28/08 5 gallons Mott's (clear) 1 packet Lalvin EC-1118 (pitched dry) OG 1.050 07/12/08 SG 1.000 6.55% ABV 10/01/08 racked to keg and I stirred up a little too much sediment so...

Partial to Full Boils / BeerSmith

Ok I am getting ready to do my first full boil (extract) and I have some questions. I have a Bayou Classic SQ14 burner (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0009JXYQ4/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20), 30qt SS brew kettle and a 25’ IC that I plan to run through an ice bath with a 300GPH pump. Ok...

    determine ABV when diluting

Is this the right way to figure out ABV when diluting? I know I will have to sulfite, sorbate and force carb, and this may not be the sweetening dilution percentage used. But I found that sweetening with juice taste a lot better than sweetening with concentrate. I just want to have an idea how...

Quick sweet cider for the impatient

I found this on youtube and it looked interesting, This looks like a recipe that you can experiment with and have quick rewards while your waiting months for your normal batch of cider or Apfelwein to age and mature. I have not tried it yet but I plan to when I can actually get out to the store...

    Bottle Carbing Calculator

I threw this excel calculator together to calculate per bottle carbing. I will use it for trial batches like EdWort's Apfelwein. I am not really sure if I want it carbed or not so this way I can carb any amount I want without having to think about the calculations. Use at your own risk, I am...

    Bottle Carbing

I have searched but could not find my answer. When bulk aging a brew, will there always be enough yeast to carb with priming sugar? Or is it possible to bulk age too long that the beer will not carbonate after being bottled.
