    Bumping up ABV

it will absolutely work. The Pilsen will contribute a bit more protein to the beer. The Corn sugar will thin the beer and contribute nothing but ABV

    spigot and air lock situation

even tight it may be leaking a bit; Try pressing a few turns of seran wrap around the mouth/lid joint to see if that forces gas to make its way tout the airlock maybe?

    Bottle Half and Keg Half

I always keg and bottle! What I do is fill the bottling bucket, then fill my keg from there. Once the keg is full I calculate priming solution based on the volume remaining, give it a light stir and then bottle. has worked out gorgeously for me so far!

    Number one beer in America.....

In what way does a beer being widely distributed equate to quality? Coors, Molson, Budwieser, Hineneken, do they get quality points and favorability ratings because they're easy to find

Linear refractometer correction in google sheets

I had used a bunch of brackets to try and group elements together when it turned out to be not required. Stripping them out and simplifying the formulas worked. To be fair, I might have added one too many brackets or something too. Sheets just spits out an error, but does not tell me where it...

Linear refractometer correction in google sheets

agree to disagree for which is better; the hydrometer requires a much larger sample to be accurate (at least two pulls from my thief). The regression analasys was already done actually, by the mathematician at the link I provided. The formulas he ended up with are; G = 1.0929176 &#8211...

Linear refractometer correction in google sheets

yeah, I was previously using a calculator, but I'd rather not have to go switching around during brew days. If I can build the formula myself, then I can just have my brew log open and not have to switch around between things while im trying to note stuff down

Linear refractometer correction in google sheets

Has anyone had any luck in using the formulas found on this page in their spreadsheets for brew logs? http://seanterrill.com/2010/07/20/toward-a-better-refractometer-correlation/ I can't for the life of me get them to work; and I've been trying for hours.

Post a clear. Few ready to bottle.

Its also not very good advice at all :S I have a helles recipe that runs decently clear WELL before the gravity is terminal. starting the bottling process then would be disastrous. For bottling you should be looking for absolute measurable indications of fermentation being done.

    DIY Fast Ferment Conical Fermenter

maybe hit it with a heat gun like they use to melt pvc pipes? that should smooth it out. I know that after a while even buckets get contaminated to the point of being scrapped just because of the scratches in them from stirring. Sorry to have brought you down, the project is cool but its gonna...

    Pumping finished beer

yup, I gelatin fine beers I want brilliant; I'm just trying to gather information here. I'm also using Irish moss during the boil to get beer a bit clearer during cold break and gelatin as well. Filtering is just another process, and I'm curious about it. I'll probably have the pump around...

    Pumping finished beer

I don't drive, Pulling juice out of the wall rather than gas from the tank is ideal. Having to go refill c02 is a bit of an ordeal.

    Pumping finished beer

yeah, thats my question. Does a pump hurt finished beer? I'm sure it can be done, but I wanna know if its a bad idea. I want to pump beer from my fermenter through a filter setup and then into the keg or bottling bucket. Otherwise I will have to use gas

    First brew tasting

did you let the bottles chill and allow the yeast to settle to the bottom? did you make sure not to pour out the bottom of the bottle?

    Pumping finished beer

Can beer thats finished being fermented be pumped; Say pushed through a filter? Or does it need to be pushed on gas at that point? Either way, why?
