    Arizona Grainfather Connect

For sale is a NIB Grainfather Connect. I purchased it with the intention of getting back into brewing after leaving the Army. Alas life had other plans. New job with long hours and commute leaves me no time to brew. It has had a cleaning cycle run through it, other than that it’s never been...

Building a SIMPLE electric boil kettle.

I'm wanting to build a simple electric boil kettle. I already have the kettle and a Blichman boilcoil 240V 4500W. All I want is a way to adjust the element. I will be mashing in a cooler, and gravity feeding into the kettle. I do not want pumps, HERMS, RIMS, or any form of automation. I have...

Big Belgian beer, stuck like Chuck

So August 30 I brewed a Belgian dark Strong, intending to have it ready to drink by Christmas. I used some Delirium Tremens yeast, cultured from a bottle, and stepped up to a two liter starter. Mash temp was 153 F for 90 minutes, followed by a 90 minute boil, no mash out. The primary...

    Best beer yet!

I bottled a beer I made two months ago, when I was on RR, from Afghanistan. It's a chocolate milk stout of my own recipe. This is by far the best beer I have ever made. I paid close attention to fermentation temps, pitched a healthy amount of US 05 yeast, and was as clean as a surgeon. I'm...

    Maple Syrup and Bottling

I am currently fermenting a fairly big stout. I want to add real maple syrup after primary fermentation is over. I will be bottling immediately after. Will I still need to add priming sugar? Will this result in bottle bombs? I did a search and could not find an answer specific to my question.

Need some help getting equipment to an APO

Like the title states, I'm stationed in Germany and need some info. I'm looking for companies that will ship to APO boxes. I've tried a couple and after the order is placed I get emails asking for a physical address. I really want to get back into brewing, but I have zero equipment and there are...

    Holiday Stout failed to carbonate??

So I brewed AHS' holiday stout partial mash kit on October 4, brew went well. The OG was a little low at 1.040, corrected for temp. Left it in the primary until 11 November. The beer smelled awesome when it came time to bottle. I cracked open my first one just now, and no carbonation, none. The...

    Mmmmmm Sierra Nevada clone.

Just cracked into my second bottle. I tried the first one after a month in the bottle, it was ok but very bitter and really not that good. Fast forward one month and this beer is awesome! It has a good creamy head, lots of carbonation and the flavor is outstanding! Just goes to show that...

First Brew Day! (56K go have a beer)

Finally brewed my first batch today. It's an export stout kit from Muntons. Before the boil I steeped some Crystal 60L, I also added two pounds of Briess Light DME. Everything went very well. I thank everyone here for their advice and knowledge. Now time for some pics.

    Apfelwein and high temps.

On the 19th of July I started a batch of Edwort's apfelwein. Today the bubbles are gone from the top of the fermentor and there is zero airlock bubbling. I know the airlock is not a reliable gauge of activity. My question, is it possible the recent high temps have caused it to finish early...

    Hello from Seattle

Just relocated here from Germany not too long ago. I am stationed at Ft Lewis. I love beer of all kinds and always enjoy finding new ones to drink. I recently got interested in home brewing. I know nothing about it other than I want to learn as much as possible. This seem like a great place to...
