    Low OG?

    It was a Brewer's Best extract milk stout kit. I did add top off water. I didn't stir much, to avoid getting too much air in the wort. What other info would be useful?

    I bottled my first batch today, and did the usual final gravity measurement. I was using a milk stout kit that should produce an abv of 5% or so. My FG was in the recommend range at 1.022, but my OG was a bit low at 1.05. This would produce an abv of only 3.68%. What did I do wrong? I tasted...

    Thanks guys. Yeah edco I got that same kit from Hop City, and it's been giving me fits. It's all good though. Tons of info here to help me.

    Bottling question

    I suppose that's the best option. Why would the kit include such a small carboy instead of another large bucket. Which one was I supposed to use to ferment?

    I started my first homebrew batch a week ago. My kit came with a 7 gallon bottling bucket and a 5 gallon plastic carboy, so I fermented in the bucket. This is the ingredient kit I'm using. I'm wondering if I should bottle directly from the fermenting bucket, or rack the beer to the 5...
