    Plug-In Cooler=Glycol Chiller?

If it helps: I went with the Icemaster Max 2 and while there are things I wish were a bit different, it is way more powerful than what I needed for a single 5gal fermenter and is extremely quiet. Looking back, probably would have gone with a fridge. Less condensation and can use it for other...

    Plug-In Cooler=Glycol Chiller?

I doubt they’d be effective. BTU/hr is probably way too low to be used as a reservoir for a recirculating chiller. Comparably priced aquarium chillers are insufficient.

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

Per the user group on Facebook, the Foundry uses a calculation to estimate and report the temperature towards the middle of the column- not the bottom where the probe actually is. For those of you reporting less of a drop when doughing in, that’s why. Don’t forget your thermo and always be sure...

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

While you don’t need a pump, what’s your plan for getting the wort into the fermenter? The unit is pretty heavy when filled and I would rather not lift it to a higher surface at that point due to the weight and thin side walls. Prior to that, you’ll need to lift the malt pipe at the end of the...

    ICEMASTER MAX 2

For routine fermentation temperatures I would recommend keeping the chiller set point around 15-20F below the target fermentation temperature. There will be less of a temperature differential between the reservoir and ambient air (meaning the pump won’t need to cycle as often) and you’ll see...

    Ohio Cleveland Ohio

Jolly was pretty good last I had it - used to work there back before they brewed, and my only complaint now is that I wish it felt less like a college bar. Haven't been there since Aaron left to start Planted Flag, but have still heard great things. I really wish we had more options on the east...

    Glycol chiller reviews

So far I'm really liking my Max 2. Haven't noticed overshoots, but also really only used it to cold crash and didn't do a good job monitoring. I'm lucky enough to be working from home right now and can barely notice it running from the other side of the basement - 1 wall in between the brew room...

    Glycol chiller reviews

There's a ton of threads on this but to save time: your main options are Penguin, Ss Brewtech, Icemaster, and the Stasis. Realistically for 5 gallon batches, they'll all work. Penguin has a smaller reservoir and footprint. It has great recovery time, and their reps are pretty active online...

Partial mash in Anvil foundry 10.5G

The 10.5 foundry typically isn't recommended for super small mashes because there's about 1 gallon of space under the malt pipe, and the side perforations in the pipe result in most water flowing past a small mash rather than through it. That results in poor efficiency (less starches converted...

Looking for an elbow or 45-degree duotight or one-touch fitting

Check out McMaster-Carr. They tend to have literally everything, though it may be a little expensive.

    ICEMASTER MAX 2

Yeah, I do wish the barbs were out of the top of the unit instead of the front. Gonna have to get some elbow connectors so my lines don't stick into the walkway.

    ICEMASTER MAX 2

The MB icemaster line looks to be a re-branded version of the Australian KegLand line (the Max 2 appears to be the same as the G20). In the KegLand video, they say it uses the same guts as the icemaster 100, so I'd assume it'll be around the same volume. Roughly 57dB from the Stasis thread. I...

    Pumpkin ale recipe

Check out the recipe section (specialty beers) - the thunderstruck and rumpkin recipes are pretty popular. Having made the thunderstruck before, I wholeheartedly feel that adding actual pumpkin doesn't do much if anything for the flavor. It stuck the mash, caused a ton of trub, and huge losses...

    ICEMASTER MAX 2

According to KegLand, the Icemaster G20 (looks to be the exact same as the Max 2) uses the same internals as the Icemaster 100. So while it is new, I think the only significant differences are the smaller reservoir volume, smaller enclosure, and added pumps. Just ordered one and it should be...

    Ohio Cleveland Ohio

Lyndhurst and just did 2 brews this weekend - Braufessor's NEIPA and Zaphod's Oztoberfest. One neighbor down the street brews and I'm getting another into it. Wish I could make it out to more of the Little Mountain meetings or Brew Mentor sessions but my schedule was pretty variable up until...

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

May as well give it a shot! Already have the steam slayer, just need a couple more TC fittings.

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

Don't remember seeing it asked before: I don't really want to leave the condenser cantilevered off the thin Foundry lid. Was thinking of clamping the condenser along the wall and using barbed fittings with silicone tubing to go from the lid to the condenser. Think 1/2" tubing would be too...

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

If you take the 3 screws off the bottom of the unit, you can get a better look at the internals. Off the top of my head, I think there's 3 concentric C shaped elements. On 120V, I believe only a single element will be engaged. I had a weaker boil than what I'm used to on gas, but there was no...
