Distance between element and HERMS coil

I was wondering what do you guys use to rise your HERMS coil from the bottom of you pot. I just finished my new dual coil and a small stand. Im not sure if its too high? Is the only downside to this is to have to keep a high level of water in your HLT? Thanks

    Meter tranformer wire

I have a volt/amp meter to put in my brewing panel. The amp part is a torroid transformer coil. From what i read i need to let the live 240v wire from my inlet receptacle pass through it. My question is can i lengthen the wire of the transformer coil to position it far from the meter or should i...

    PID output and SSR

I would like to know if a SSR is being used (Loosing life expectancy) when a PID or DSPR is sending 12V pulses to it when the SSR is not controlling the 240v circuit (element off by a contactor)? Should i use a switch to isolate the 12V output of the PID from the Input of the SSR when the panel...

    Removable HERMS coil

I was wondering if making a 50' 1/2" OD copper HERMS coil with camlock connection would be useful in any ways? i first bought 1/2 SS compression fittings to install my copper coil.
