Sunday, September 4th (Sunday before Labor Day) 6p-10p at Deep Ellum Brewing Company. I'll be out there at Matty K's Home Brewery. Likely with an IPA and a fruited blonde. Registration and drop off is from 07/01-07/31 Who's going? Competing? I did this last year and had a blast...

Brewing another batch tomorrow with K97 just for kicks

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

It's probably just fine. What was your gravity reading at pitching?

You know you're a home brewer when?

Craigslist is the place for buying tanks. You'll just buy the ones that people would normally exchange. Pretty easy to find em for less than $20. Not bad considering you can't buy a "new" one at the exchange for less than like $20.

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

How much (fresh/whole?) strawberry did you do? Assuming it was in 2.5 gallons

    Getting US-05 to taste clean

I used to do that. Now I pitch and start at the yeast's ideal range. For us05 and 1056, that was always 66-68 for me. I use Nottingham for my ales now. Great attenuation, clean flavor and floccs much more quickly.

Entered this into a comp and poured at a festival this weekend. Great feedback all the way around. Judges' scores ranged from 41-45, took first place in its category. Cheers for the great recipe!

    Bottling advice for competition

Maybe it's because I just finished a night shift, but I am having a hard time picking out your question.

Show us your upright refrigerator "Kegerator" conversion.

She's ugly, but she puts out.

Competition Question - How much is clarity weighted on stouts?

Stouts are relatively trouble free in that regard. An opaque stout is still true to style. Even if it is not dark enough to be opaque, the beers with darker/roasted malts tend to clear up quickly on their own in my experience.

    Cheap stock pot

My 62qt Bayou wobbles in a certain range. 180 would seem reasonable as it only does it as I approach boil vs heating strike/sparge water. Can you show a pic of that indentation? Curious if it's something I could do to a flat-bottomed pot myself.

Still making bad beer after 30+ batches.

Maybe your tongue is broken! Kinda like the blonde that goes to the doc. Pokes herself in the arm, "It hurts when I do this," pokes herself in the chest, "It hurts when I do this," pokes herself in the leg, "It hurts when I do this..." Doc diagnoses her with a broken finger. Kidding but...

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

Tried my hand at this. Hard to beat 13 days grain to glass! Will probably keep some on tap at all times now. My wife is not a beer drinker but said she would drink this if she had to. I guess that's progress! I tweaked it just a touch for a 6 gallon batch. Also some untappd kudos from a buddy.

When you notice how bad posts 6093-6099 geeked out, but you're good with it. :)
