Best way to get labels off wine & whiskey bottles?

I put them in a five gallon bucket then fill it with soapy water. Leave it for a few days, then peel the labels off and put back in the water for a couple more days. Then use a pot scrubber to remove any residual glue. Not counting the soaking time, I can do a bucket of bottles in a few...

    Who’s A Skinhead?

There is something freeing about not having a bunch of hair. Started shaving my head about 15 years ago, but now just use the clippers with no guards. Much easier than shaving. But I would never refer to myself as a skinhead. Bald, chrome dome, etc. yep.

    Distilled water?

Through experimentation, I've found that for me, using fifty percent RO water and fifty percent tap works just about right. However, I'm on a well so your mileage may vary.

I do the same. I also use cheap hop bags. It works like a champ.

    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

I know this is an older thread, but I made this mead and wanted to report in. I had a beekeeper friend, Karl who sent me his supply of honey before he died of cancer. I wanted to make a mead in his memory and have zero experience with mead. Been brewing beer for around six years, ten gallon...

No Chill - Will My Funnel Melt?

I do BIAB and no-chill. I just place the top on my kettle and move it to the back of my garage (kettle is on burner on casters). It cools overnight and in the morning, I transfer it to the fermenter. Only once did I get sloppy and push the kettle too hard. It hit a rock on the floor of the...

    SS Brewtech Keg Cleaner

I have now used this keg washer on around two dozen kegs. I highly recommend it. Set up three buckets and just rotate a keg through the three. Before using, I do pre-rinse my kegs to get all of the bottom gunk out, then set in the first bucket. I also have a Mike's keg washer, but didn't...

Naw, it’s a rider mower. Though, those vinyl seats could be a little less sticky.

Beer and men of the church

I received a call from my pastor today. His old church is now doing "Pints and Prayers" where one member hosts a gathering of men at the church who like beer. He asked me to host our first gathering. It will probably be around 30 or so men and maybe few women who like beer. I'll have four or...

    SS Brewtech Keg Cleaner

I like the looks of the SSBrewTech. Wish I would have pre-ordered one. The other one doesn't look as easy to use to me. Setting up three buckets and moving the keg from bucket to bucket seems like an easy keg cleaning day. I'm keeping an eye out for when I can order one.

How to get rid of moles

Get some chickens. Between my two cats and chickens, our vole/mole problem went away. We were infested last year when we bought the house. The back yard was nothing but a series of tunnels. Between the chickens eating the grubs and worms and the cats catching the critters, all of our tunnels...

    Good summer ale?

Three Crop Ale or a Centennial Blonde would be my choice. Both are easy to make and ready fairly quickly. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=66503 https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=42841
