    partigyle, getting started

I'm doing a big ass Hoppy Valley Double IPA again soon. Last time I had a lot of sugar left in my mash tun. I'm thinking this time I would like to use some of that. Eventually I'd like to work it out so I can run the recipe as a grain-only partigyle, but I need to inch into it, as I'll...

    my latest kegorator build

I lucked into finding a great fridge. It's essentially a single exterior door and has a dorm-fridge style freezer section inside, so it's just an insulated box with coils on the back. It is light, and once emptied out it held five cornies. Because it's a fridge, I won't need temp controllers...

    hand blown glass tap handles

A friend of mine is making hand blown glass tap handles. She can take size and color requests, or provide images of what she has already made.

    Freezers outdoors/breezeway in Central Pennsylvania?

I moved north from North Carolina. In NC I had freezers (both standup and chest freezers) in an un-insulated garage and had two-stage controllers with a heat lamp inside, so if it got real cold, the heat lamp kept the kegs (in the chest freezer) from freezing or the carboys (in the standups)...

    dry yeast hydration

does anyone do anything besides rehydrate the yeast with pitching-temp sterilized water?

    rv/sanitary hose. Have flavors?

Anyone who's using the RV hose or medical grade vinyl sanitary hoses you can buy at Lowe's or Home Depot, do you get any vinyl or hose flavor from it? Is it designed to be flavor free? Is any hose besides silicon flavor free?

DIY Jockey Box anyone? Or: can you self coil the SS?

A buddy with a pub would like to set up a jockey box. Looks like it's just dispensing parts, bulkheading through a cooler, and running through SS tubing. Any idea if rolling that tubing is doable DIY style? Anyone done another jockeybox somehow at home?

filtering - pad usage, clogging, time, and clearing sanitizer?

I got the plate filter with the round pads, uses two at once, and ran it. I filled it with starsan, it had 2 medium pads on it, and then I pushed out the starsan with beer until it looked like yellow beer. I filled a sanitized keg, but it took about 1.5 hours. I hadn't carbonated the keg...

types of rice? Colors and flavors?

I have this snippet stuck in my head of someone on a podcast talking about using some kind of asian rice in a saison that added a slight flavor they liked with it. That little tidbit has been making me nuts. Does anyone remember it more clearly? I am sure it must be a brewing network show...

    in line aeration after CFC?

what have you guys done? I have a stone, pump, and hepa, would like to run it into something while flowing wort out of cfc, so it aerates in the tubing on the way to the carboy. Anyone built something like that?

    leftover starch in grains, efficiency

I've never looked really closely at my spent grains (amazingly), but I did this last batch. I had little white blobs of what looked like oatmeal, just kind of mushy starchy stuff. It was starch-negative to iodine, along with the surrounding fluid, but if I smashed it up a bit, I got a heavy...

shortest weldless fitting (sticks into keggle least)?

Okay, my weldless fittings use a stainless coupler on the inside to receive a nipple from the outside (connected to the spigot). The coupler is pretty long. I'd like to put on a few more spigots, but will want to have some elbowed copper pipes on the inside to make a whirlpool setup...

    hang-on-pot whirlpool needs modification

So I had this idea and made a simple device to use my QDs to hook up a pump and run a whirlpool: Now, it does work. It actually works pretty darn well, BUT, it needs some modification. 1) getting the flow started up over the side is a pain. If you can move your hose full of fluid over...

LP burners for keggles - which do you like?

has anyone used more than one type on keggles? Get any feel for the efficiency of different types, or their speed? I've got the basic turkey-fryer burners and they take a looooong time to boil, and I think I'm pissing through propane at a ridiculous rate. I'm working to electrify, so the...

filter before or after cold conditioning?

okay, I ferment out, then I keg, then I cold condition. I have a new plate filter on it's way, courtesy of my biggest fan (my brother), but I am curious if folks are doing their cold conditioning before or after filtration? or do you keg, cold condition for a few days to settle things (less...
