    iSpindle - DIY Electronic Hydrometer

I think you just need to run the iSpindel in regular operating mode with the update period set reasonably fast (20 seconds) and see if the D1's LED flashes every 20 seconds. If so, then it's coming out of deepsleep fine. I'm not sure how you can (easily) test it before assembly. If that's not...

    iSpindle - DIY Electronic Hydrometer

LBussy, Don't forget, the D1/WIFI was tested with an Arduino sketch which exercised all that stuff (presumably). It seemed like it was a firmware/flashing issue to me, so I tried a different flashing tool (NodeMCU flasher), and.. it works now -- that fixed the problem and it runs fine. Not sure...

Yes. forgot to mention that. Thanks. Nothing there. I do get ROM msgs on its baud rate, so I know the serial connection is fine, but nothing at 115200. Using putty in serial mode on a Win 10 PC.

    iSpindle - DIY Electronic Hydrometer

Hey all, I need some iSpindel build troubleshooting help/advice. I'm building 2 iSpindels and one is working perfectly, the other is not working. After flashing, I can't get it into to configuration mode by resetting it a few times -- no WIFI AP appears and no LEDs flash on the D1 mini. The LED...

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

That's pretty much what I thought. No WIFI? Really? Yay, a new SDK. 🙄 meh. Definitely for the educational market.

jnharsh, there is a wiring diagram here for one possible approach. It might help.

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

In retrospect, 💩п would be more appropriate since it rhymes with BrewPi, and who wouldn't want to monitor a 💩п floating in their fermenter? Okay, back to our regularly scheduled program.

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

Hi Thorrak, a couple [minor] questions about the iSpindel configuration in Fermentrack. Your example for the Path/URI value on the iSpindel's config page was to use http://brewmaster.local/ispindel. Will the format of that value always be <fermentrack_host>/ispindel? Just trying to avoid...

BrewFlasher - Windows/MacOS app for flashing ESP8266/ESP32 Brewing Projects

After messing with the NodeMCU flasher and the Espressif one and the python ones, which are all really the same and probably all worked fine, assuming I had the right settings for flashing the iSpindel, but I was always a bit uncertain about the outcome because documentation and tools' feedback...

Native ESP8266 BrewPi Firmware - WiFi BrewPi, no Arduino needed!

Thanks! Adobe Illustrator. I dunno, Lee... the Fermentrack GUI looks pretty good. Someone had to pick the right CSS template.

Native ESP8266 BrewPi Firmware - WiFi BrewPi, no Arduino needed!

Attached is a controller wiring layout (PDF vector illustration) that uses one of Thorrak's PCBs. I hope someone finds it useful. thumbnail It's in the public domain, no copyright. It's a native Adobe Illustrator PDF and should also open without much trouble in InkScape in...

    A Brewpi Remix Build

Relays do make decent fuses. Sure they smell like burnt plastic, but it's because they're 'cloud based' which means they communicate with your smoke detector to provide you with a convenient wireless notification that your controller may be near some tolerance limit. The word 'fuse' was, in...

I saw a fused IEC inlet (10A) on Digikey.com for like $1.50. I consider the switch optional. I leave mine running or just pull the plug. It's still probably engineered in China, but Digikey almost certainly do their due diligence wrt safety certs. Of course shipping is on top of that.

Makes sense. Thanks. So I can basically close the browser in the garage and it leaves the web server, Django, scripts, etc., all running.

Right. That temp profile scenario is one consideration I was wondering about. Can I log off the browser in the garage? Or does that kill brewpi script and the profile that in effect?

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

Noob Question: How much of the Fermentrack system/processes needs to remain running to work properly with a beer in progress? To elaborate... I’m running the front-end on an old laptop sitting on the ferm chamber out in the garage, instead of on an RPi. I leave the browser running full time...

An enhancement I recommend is using a fused IEC power inlet. Say 8-10 amp fuse. But make sure it's one that has legitimate safety certifications. CSA/UL or whatever. The only way to ensure those certs are legit is to buy it from a responsible supplier. (Mouser, Digikey, etc.)

For the RJ45 jacks it says you can wire them in series like you did. That's actually parallel. But that's nitpicking.
