Beer as fertilizer or compost addition?

I'm a home brewer as well as a gardener. My spent beer grains already go into my compost (or to my chickens). I have a recent batch that I over carbonated and need to dump. I haven't planted my garden beds yet and am wondering if this is something I should add in? Or just dump into the compost...

Do I have crap caps or did I overprime? What now?

I bottled a pilsner about 2weeks ago. I noticed that about 1/3 of the bottles have leaked about 1/3-1/4 of the beer out (they were stored horizontally.) This was the first time I've had this issue, which leads me to wonder if I bought crappy caps or if I overprimed. Did I possibly just do a sh|t...

Coopers Pilsner and Lager with Saflager S23

Is my lager yeast viable? How do I tell?

I made a 1.5L starter (1040) of DME. Room temp (20C). Rehydrated the Coopers Lager yeast that came with the selection pilsner. This yeast was stored on the shelf at the store, and I'll be fermenting at lager temps (13-15C). At 36 hrs now, and I don't know how to tell if it is viable, as it...

Searching for a recipe from June or July's Brew Your Own

I've lost my copy, but there was a recipe for a sour framboise that I would desperately love to try. I can't remember if it was the June or July issue; however I will buy the magazine off you or take a (legible) pic of the recipe via email. Thanks!!!!

    Suggestions for cold hardy hops?

Anyone in colder areas that have found some hop varieties better than others? I am gardening in Zone 2/3, although I am hoping to create a small micro climate for the hops to help them through the winter. We get extremes of up to -40F but that is not typical. We have a growing season of about...
