First Brew Day Was Mostly Successful

Don't feel so bad, sounds like you had a pretty solid brew night/day as long as the winds didn't damage anything then no sweat and prepare for the next brew!

Is it ok that I strain my beer before fermentation?

I strain thru a hop bag and get next to nothing trub works like a charm and oxidizes as well

How do you cool your wort?

Get an aquarium pump and fill a large bucket or like a garbage bin with ice water and run the water through the chiller. It should chill pretty quickly
