    Glycol chiller or fridge ?

I saw those brewtech overpriced ones too and tracked down the parts I needed from the CPC logo on them. I run my chiller at 33°F/1°C and haven't had any problems. The chiller hovers between 33° and 34° F, at least that's what the panel says.

    Glycol chiller or fridge ?

I've graduated from using a True GDM-12 glass fridge that I got off of Craigslist for $200 with a SS Brewtech conical to now using a Blichmann glycol chiller with a Spike Flex+ fermenter. Pictures attached. The fridge worked fine, but I was limited to only fermenting batches at the same...

Blichmann BrewEasy / Gas or Electric

I've migrated from the propane to electric BrewEasy. I previously had the gas version of the BrewEasy and would brew outside on the porch, but was limited to the weather. I will say that the temp/propane regulator setup Blichmann worked very well - the controller would turn on/fire the...

    Picobrew Z

I was able to get a 12.08% beer out of the Pico Z. If I understand you correctly, I did what I would call a double-mash last month with the Picobrew Z. I was aiming for a BCBS-ish stout and I used the wort from the 1st mash(with DME) as the water for the 2nd mash. My gravity going into the...

Is a closed transfer really necessary?

I wondered about this too until asking a friend what he does and said "duh!". Assuming you use the method Martin mentioned(pushing out sanitizer from serving keg using CO2), when you are readying transfer, connect the hose to the keg first, then purge the keg with more CO2 and it should purge...

    Picobrew Z

If you already tried this, sorry. Clean out the inline filter(black mini-canister like thing) coming off of the black side. The blue cylinder filter can get really clogged up with grain, hops and protein globs. Use a slotted head screwdriver to unscrew the top, remove and clean both the grey...

Connecticut Picobrew Zymatic, PicoPro, PicoStill and lots of extras for sale - CT/New England only

I am selling off my Picobrew stuff as I got some bigger equipment for my brewery. Picobrew Zymatic bought in 2016, did about 22 brews on it from looking at my history. Taken good care of it. The PicoPro was part of one of their kickstarters in 2017. The Picostill came in 2018 and I've only...

    PicoBrew Zymatic

I'd really like to buy the new Z, but I just can't stomach the upgrade cost even at "half off". If they come back with this deal in the Fall, maybe, but too many unknowns right now. Also, there are a lot of other options out there for 5gal or larger electric brewing at this price point.

Anyone have any Pico Paks ship since mid/late Dec? I ordered 2 on Dec 19(with Brew Unlimited) and 2 on Jan 1, but neither has shipped yet.

    On Cloning Bissell Brothers Swish

I heard Noah and Hester on The Session too. He did say they changed up their yeasts a few years ago. I know the homebrew recipe Noah provided for The Substance called for 1056, but I'll have to brew this again with 1272. I think I'm going to try with WLP075 too.

    PicoBrew Zymatic

Yes, I still use the brewbucket minis almost exclusively for smallish batches. They are much easier to clean than the 5gal kegs too. I got a Pico Pro too and ferment the 1.75gal batch from that in the Brewbucket minis as well. I can fit both of them in my fermentation fridge at the same time...

[edited - forget which forum I was in] Did you by chance throw whirfloc or irish moss in the keg? I've seen that kind of gunk in the hop cage on my Zymatic after putting whirfloc and yeast nutrients into a hop cage? I've had lots of stuck transfers due to lots of hops. If you can't get it...

    Pico Brew Unlimited. Worth it?

So I got and brewed my 2 PicoPaks this past Sunday and ordered 2 more(Lucky Envelope Eniac and the Fate Brewing Moirai.) Both said would ship in 5-7 days, but they shipped within 3 by Wednesday. I don't think my other brews will be done fermenting by the time I get the new ones. So far, so good.

Send an email to [email protected] explaining the situation. The support guys are pretty good and will guide you through.

    PicoBrew Zymatic

I have both and also brew bigger sized batches on more traditional equipment. I've only brewed 1 batch on the Pico so far and it is definitely easier, but... you only get to brew what they give you. Granted you can do a PicoPak for the Pico, but the options in it are very limited as of right...

    Pico Brew Unlimited. Worth it?

I activated my subscription on 8/10 and ordered 2 packs, Chin Curtain IPA and Stargazer IPA, and they were delivered 8/22. It looks like they were not pre-ready and had to be put together. Hopefully, I can brew them both in the next few days.

    PicoBrew Zymatic

I'm assuming you are not new to brewing, but just the Zymatic. Beersmith is def worth it as you can use it with the Zymatic and almost anything else. The next version should be coming soon too.

From the Kickstarter FAQ, "If your machine breaks just let us know, and we will stop the clock while we repair it for you." Just be sure to remind them.
