ISO Bells and Jackie O's regular trading partner, FT Oregon

I would like to begin trading beers and this would be a type of swap I would like to try. I have access to Michigan and Great Lakes area beers. I live in upper michigan with my father living a mile away from bells. I would be willing to ship first since I'm new at this to build up some trust...

    HLT Heat Exchange

I was thinking of building a heat exchange coil out of copper tubing to recirculate my mash through. Would copper be a poor choice to build a coil for this purpose mostly worried about off flavors since copper copper is a seeming practical choice for it malleability and heat exchange...

Think this will be too muddled

Cool thanks for the quick reply, I guess I was just a little nervous about the amount of dark malt. I've done stouts with up 1# roasted barely and 3/4# black patent, and porters with up to 3/4# chocolate and 1/2# black patent but nothing with the combo of all three. But i guess the dark malt...

Think this will be too muddled

    Temperature buffer of water bath

Haha very true Yooper you know where I'm coming from. Add an old house with poor insulation and a furnace that looks like an SiFi writers impression of a robot octopus and keeping a happy environment for yeast(and other occupants) can be tricky Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Temperature buffer of water bath

Awesome I work one last night shift tonight so I think I have a little project for tomorrow. Thanks everyone for the awesome info. I have a 2L starter of wyeast 3711 buzzing away right now so maybe these next few weeks I'll see I I can play around with a heater and hit the temps I want. I figure...

    Temperature buffer of water bath

Most of the year my basements ambient temp is pretty ideal for clean American/British ales and if the water bath itself will moderate the temp at high krausen then that's half my goal accomplished Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Temperature buffer of water bath

For heating alone is the built in thermostatic control decent aquarium heater good enough to regulate the temp. The main reason for this project is to stop the temperature variation of my house and to be able to slowly cheap up the temps of certain strains(mostly Belgian) to get the desired...
