Failing plastic ball lock connectors - anyone use stainless?

Excellent. Have you had any further issues since you have been using them for years now?

Failing plastic ball lock connectors - anyone use stainless?

I know this is an old thread but have been considering upgrading ball lock connectors. I know it's stupid but I have a phobia of plastic. What I haven't been able to find is a picture of the valve/spear inside the stainless ball lock connectors. If the valve is plastic, I don't see the point...

    Balanced Beer Ratio

It was never an issue with the programs or recipe adjustments after the initial brew. It was (as Yooper pointed out) the flawed idea of attempting to account for residual sugars along with IBU and ABV. The problem is that FG is going to be pretty variable. As stated above, outside of recipe...

    Balanced Beer Ratio

Ha, yeah I too am a perfectionist and only brew for myself. I like to go around looking for problems to solve. I guess that's all this was. Thanks. I'll see if I can come up with another solution without a problem for you someday[emoji6]

    Balanced Beer Ratio

Thanks Yooper. I suppose your right but I feel there is a place in recipe development/ refinement for FG or residual sweetness. I guess there is an issue with determining how much residual sweetness you will end up with. You could calculate fermentability some how, yeast attenuation, non...

    Balanced Beer Ratio

So I have been thinking about this a little bit and wanted to get some different opinions. I have seen different ratios regarding IBU:ABV but after brewing a Belgian IPA that is really out of balance I had to consider another variable. I think residual sweetness needs to be a variable considered...

    Growing Hops in Central Florida

Does anyone have updates on their hops? I neglected my cascade and centennial so they have passed away. I installed a drip irrigation system for my garden so I decided to get some Columbus hops. I read for the love of hops and they are supposed to be a good low trellis hop.

Guide to Making a Frozen Yeast Bank

I'm a white labs guy myself but really who ever has the type of Brett or lacto you want. Look around the American sours book suggested http://www.eastcoastyeast.com/ I've never used them personally. It looks like they have a several blends. I'm curious how often you plan to use lacto? I only...

Guide to Making a Frozen Yeast Bank

Your right. It did mention adding chalk to keep the ph in check with consistent decanting and feeding.

Guide to Making a Frozen Yeast Bank

I'm pretty sure the American Sours book says you can just feed your lacto and pedio with apple juice every couple of weeks and it will keep. No need to freeze or slant/plate. You can treat them like a sour dough starter. Just keep it fed.

    Orlando?

I went to cask and larder a while back. It wasn't bad. Head Brewer won FL Brewer of the year a couple of years ago. Food prices are crazy high though.

    Homebrew Time Saving Techniques

Thanks all of you for your great input. I hope it will help people see that you can still enjoy an abbreviated version o this hobby. I personally love my all grain brewing but wouldn't mind going back to extract on occasion just to keep kegs full. Has anyone considered brewing extract in a...

    Homebrew Time Saving Techniques

I have seen several homebrewers come and go due to the lack of time to brew. The now ex-homebrewers usually make claims that they cannot not brew since they have had children. I would like to help people understand that there may be some time savers that can help the out. Hopefully this will...

    Growing Hops in Central Florida

Congrats COEBRA! It's a fun addition to the brewing hobby. I put out 4 last year and didn't keep up with them as well as I should have. The top I used also gave way but 3 plants survived and this year I'm using 1/2" burlap rope. Should be a good year. They didn't yield but maybe an ounce last...

    Growing Hops in Central Florida

This is my first year but I'm having good results. I'm using palm fertilizer once a month, just about a table spoon in each pot. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

    Stc-1000+

Do you have a link to your eBay page? I'll buy a couple just to help you get rid of them, plus I don't mind the basic stc1000. I do want a black box soon though. Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Stc-1000+

Not to get this thread anymore off topic but why would you pay $26 or even $50 for a timer? An egg timer cost like $5 at Walmart. I just use the timer on my phone. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew
