Belgian Tripel Belgian Trippel (2006 World Beer Cup Gold Medal: Dragonmead Final Absolution clone)

Looks like the hops are listed as whole leaf. Has anyone converted this to pellets?

Belgian Tripel Belgian Trippel (2006 World Beer Cup Gold Medal: Dragonmead Final Absolution clone)

Is there a preferred AG recipe (seems like there are a few variations) for this brew and if so does anyone know what page in the thread it's on? Thanks

Saison Boulevard Smokestack Series Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale Clone

I brewed a trippel a while back with Ardennes and it came out extremely dry, almost wine like. Perhaps my temp was off that produced this flavor. Anyone else run into this with that strain? I don't have my notes in front of me from that brew day but if I recall i let it free rise to the low to...

Belgian Tripel Belgian Trippel (2006 World Beer Cup Gold Medal: Dragonmead Final Absolution clone)

Higher abv doesn't automatically = better brew. Drinking a pint of rubbing alcohol doesn't sound real tasty to me. I did the extract version, which was my 3rd batch ever, a couple years back. I think mine finished out slightly lower than yours (about 9.5%, I don't have access to my brew notes...

Not too dry. You don't want a tripel to be sweet. Sounds like you better be careful with this brute @ roughly 9.8% abv...sounds like it should be tasty. Let us know how it comes out

Boil 1 qt of water with 1/2 cup DME for 15 mins. Cool to pitching temp and toss in your yeast. Put on your stir plate (if you have one) or give it a good swirl every time you walk by if you don't have a stir plate. Do this for 2 days. Put in the fridge for 24 hours to crash. Decant and pitch...

Belgian Tripel Belgian Trippel (2006 World Beer Cup Gold Medal: Dragonmead Final Absolution clone)

I keep hearing everyone talking about making huge 2 liter starters on this brew. My LHBS (well respected in my area for their knowledge/experience) keeps touting underpitching belgian yeast strains to help bring out the esters/phenols that are characteristic of the style. About a year back now I...

Saison Boulevard Smokestack Series Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale Clone

I've heard Boulevard uses the Westmalle strain in all of their Smokestack Series beers under varying temptures depending on beer they are brewing

Agreed. That dry hop Amarillo flavor is what really makes tank 7. I think 3787 is a good choice. Let us know how it turns out

Not sure I'm understanding the hop schedule. Can you clarify?

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Coconut Porter

also scraped 5 vanilla beans into about 1/2 oz of rum and added tincture to the secondary with toasted coconut. any chance sugars from coconut/vanilla/rum added enough extra fermentables to over carb? want to try this recipe as all grain (used LME first time around) but obviously want to avoid...

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Coconut Porter

I brewed this almost a year back. was grest after about 2 weeks in bottle. after that they turned into bottle bombs. added about 24oz of toasted coconut to the secondary. anyone have any idea why this over carbed?

Belgian Tripel Belgian Trippel (2006 World Beer Cup Gold Medal: Dragonmead Final Absolution clone)

***Update*** fermentation took off roughly 12 hours after pitch. A 1L starter and a really good aerate seems to have done the trick. Temp held steady for 36ish hours at 70F and has since dropped to about 68 as fermentation has started slowing down, although its still bubbling at least once per...

Belgian Tripel Belgian Trippel (2006 World Beer Cup Gold Medal: Dragonmead Final Absolution clone)

Ive been wanting to brew up this recipe for quite a while now. Finally had a chance to pick up the ingredients this weekend...pretty amped for this one. Brewed the extract version as follows.
