    day 10 update: Used a 2L Wyeast 1056 starter and had huge fermentation activity within 4-5 hours of pitching. SG was 1.062. Had to clean the airlock/blowoff tube twice within 48 hours. Never have I seen such a violent fermentation. Switched to the standard 3 piece airlock after 4 days. Well...

    Came out today at 1.062 so I came out a good bit under it seems like. I did a 6.5 gallon boil and ended up with 5.75 gallons. I wanted to account for trub loss and secondary hop loss.     Suggestions to prevent homebrew twang in next batch

    I had that twang in all of my extract brews until I split up the extract volume into 2 different addition times. 1/2 at 60 and 1/2 at 30. Also nailed down my cleaning and sanatation process. I also let my bottles condition at least 3 weeks before drinking which helped with the green flavor

    just did my first all grain with this recipe. Can say that it went well and... took much longer but it was fun. SG is at 1.044. Target was 1.048 First time using a hydrometer too. is that far off?
