    Extra big immersion chiller.

Hausofstrauss: I apologize, I haven't gather data like that. I brew 10g batches (always have). I'd say typically down to ale temps in 15-20 minutes, depending on ground water temps. I would think 5g would be a little quicker than that. But can't say for sure. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    RIMS? Question

Thanks Schematix, I appreciate your thoughts. I do have an element in my kettle, it is well submerged in about 4g of liquid. There is also a drain as well as whirlpool valve at the bottom of the kettle, along with both a drain (via manifold) and sparge fitting on the MT. I currently run 2...

    RIMS? Question

I currently brew 10g batches in an electric kettle. Today, a brewing buddy proposed the idea of recirculating the wort in a loop between the kettle and the mash tun as a way of maintaining/stepping up mash temps. Like a RIMS setup, but using the kettle instead of a RIMS tube. Anyone see an...

Electric Build - Stilldragon DIY Kit

I use the lighted version of that switch from HD linked above as a cheapo E Stop on my still dragon controller. Works great, simple to wire in up. Very happy with it. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

How do you keep your IC off the element?

It may not be an issue to let it sit on the element, but I added some legs to mine just to be on the safe side. Sweat 3 T-fittings onto the bottom ring of the coil and add appropriate length legs from there. If you haven't learned to sweat copper yet, you'll be glad you did. It's pretty easy...

    Help selecting the right pump

I have been doing something similar for a few years now. Brew outside in the back yard, transfer into my basement where the conicals live. It was all down hill, but I used my march pump anyway. Worked like a charm. Ran wort through about 35' of beverage line (the thick walled stuff) into the...

    Quick pump question

If you are using an existing GFCI outlet for the pump, you could simply use a plug strip for the switch. Be sure not to run the pump dry, that can damage the head. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Home Ground Question

Thanks for the replys guys! The house is pretty old. All the plumbing has been redone with PVC. No copper or galvanized. Popular opinion is that the ground is originating at the service pole (in the alley behind the house). No evidence of a rod or anything else outside. We did have a home...

Re-Seal a Fridge After Removing the Door Guts

I used the old shelf inset from my fridge door to trace out a template on white board. Then bolted that back onto the door along with the seal. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Home Ground Question

I am in the process of switching over to electric and moving the brew works into my basement. I recently had a friend help out with running the 220 line to a 50a spa panel (with a 30a breaker in the box). In the process he discovered there were only 3 wires total running to the house (2lines and...
