    I feel like my OG should be higher

    Here is the tripel recipe: 60-minute mash at 152ºF 3 qt water (1 gal for sparge) 2.8 lb Belgian pilsner malt .08 lb Caramel-10 malt 60-minute boil .3 oz Kent Golding hops (at start of boil) .1 Saaz hops (:55 into boil) .25 lb candi sugar (end of boil) 1/2 packet Safale S-22

    It was all-grain and I took my readings just prior to transferring the wort from the boil kettle to the carboy. One batch was about 70°F at the time, which I corrected for, and the other was cooled to 60°F. The recipes were not kits per se, just recipes from Brooklyn Brew Shop that I built from...

    I feel like my OG should be higher

    I recently brewed a tripel and an IPA. The desired ABVs are 9.9% and 7.6% respectively. Both times I took a hydrometer reading, I got 1.06 OG (both are too young to take additional readings ATM). It seems like it should be higher for such big brews. Thoughts?
