Low Efficiency, what can I expect?

So my first all grain brew was this past weekend in which I did the darth vader- black ipa on this forum. My efficiency ended up around 50% with a starting OG of 1.051, where it was expected to be higher. What does this mean for my beer? I'm sure it will taste alright, but how will it differ...

Picking a Boil Kettle and HLT

I'm trying to put together all the gear to begin all-grain brewing By September. I currently have a converted 48-qt coleman cooler for a mash tun and I'm looking to get a BK and HLT soon. Im planning on doing 5 gallon batches, but I may consider moving to 10 gallon at some point. I enjoy all...

    Mash tun too big?

I recently built a mash tun out of a 48 qt rectangular cooler. I want to do a 1 gallon test batch, and I was wondering if the mash tun is too big? I will be batch sparging, and the recipe is similar to Biermunchers centennial blonde. Cheers! Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Adding DME to brewhouse beer kit

I was thinking about adding DME to a brew house beer kit - prairie wheat. Just wondering what kind of effect/benefit, if any, would occur. The kit doesn't call for dextrose, which I assumed it would, and I bought some DME to substitute. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    All grain 1 gallon brewing

I'm fairly new to brewing as I only started back in October, but I'm very interested in moving away from kits and doing some all grain brews. Due to some space restrictions I can only do 1 gallon batchs. I currently have a couple 30L fermenters, a couple 23L carboys, a 12qt stockpot...
