Well, although I really, really was hoping it would taste ok, I have to report, sorry Pat, that it was terrible! And keep in mind I love my homemade craft beer, but I also don't mind drinking PBR when I go camping either... so i'm not a complete beer snob. To me it tasted like cheap whiskey...

@norrisk... I let the bines grow about 8-12" then I wrap them around the wire/structure. Then I keep repeating this process. Seems to work ok, but I agree they don't like growing horizontal.

Looks great! I did something similar on a smaller scale and just want to share 2 bits from my experienc. I'm not sure what kind of wire you used? I used cheap baling wire which was easy to work with, however it formed rust which in turn "burned" my hops vines where they contacted the wire. So...

That's a pretty sweet backyard set-up! Nice article although I would disagree with your comment of "constant management". If I read that before growing hops I would have shied away. I've found growing hops to be pretty easy. Water here and there and cut back occasional bines. They grow like...
