    Canadian Supplies

@apimyces keep an eye out on all the regular online shops @drunkencanuck I believe Tavistock Hops is going to distribute all their homebrew packages through Rob now. I'll try and find out for sure when I see him later today. Of course I'm sure you can deal directly for larger quantities

Kyle did mention that to me actually. I can't recall the details of it all though. Might be because I cleaned him out of hallertau. He only has a few plants that he used as a test, not so much for distribution, so I steal most if not all lol. It's harvest season in a couple weeks (glacier and...

I'll have to keep it in mind. A really good buddy of mine owns tavistock Hops so I'm always stealing his supply in lieu of free labour

    Here's something never seen before

It was just odd to have zero foam at all when I hit it with oxygen and I even cranked it up high. I was worried that might continue on down the line.

    Here's something never seen before

Well it turns out the beer has excellent head retention. Not what I expected but a pleasant surprise nonetheless

Are you from Guelph? I lived in Guelph until a year ago. Check out Discovering wine and Beer on Speedvale. He's got the best price for bulk grains and a decent supply of Hops

Thread is a little old now but I'll chime in anyway. Shortfingerbrewing is a great place to go if you can stop in. Shipping can get a little pricey but Rob's prices are spot on and sometimes better than Patrick (OBK) I've been making the switch over with the exception of things that can't be...

    Burner Heat Shield question

I would probably give it at least 2-3 inches

    Burner Heat Shield question

You'll wanna lower them and give room for the air and flame to escape and to draw fresh air up through the burner. Think putting a lid on a grease fire in a pan.

keg camping cooler - foaming issues

If you keep getting air in the lines I'm more inclined to say you have a leak somewhere. Check all your connections (use Teflon on any threads) and inspect the lines for any holes

    RTD sensor question

The K type I'm using is for the wire only not the sensor. I wired it up last night but unfortunately the readings are out. I've determined it's the switch itself that's the issue, or possibly the grounding of it to the box? The reading goes way up or down when you touch the switch at all, yet...

    RTD sensor question

They're 3 wire. I found some k type sensors of the same awg so I was planning to cut them back to run from the switch to pid

    RTD sensor question

I've bought a 9 pin on/on switch for my RTD sensors to add on to my panel, but will the added resistance in the wire I add plus the switch mess up the readings of the sensor?

A little 240 mishap to share

I have a multi meter, in fact a nice one at that. In hindsight yeah I should have given it a quick check but I didn't think too much of it since I was sliding the housing and element out from one pot into another. Because the opening was slightly smaller on the new pot I ended up twisting it a...

A little 240 mishap to share

Definitely happy that's the worst of it, especially when I have spare parts. I'm most happy to see everything worked as it should have which brings a little piece of mind. Thought I would share this as a reminder to others to double check everything even after a simple change. Goes to show a...

    What's worse?

With temperatures like that you might be better suited with farmhouse yeasts until you're able to get that temperature under control. Who doesn't love a good Belgian style beer anyway right?

    Help!!

Well I guess it's a good thing elements are relatively cheap. Thats definitely a short life span on it. I would maybe even look into warranty issues...

    Cellaring homebrew for decades

My 2 cents would be to brew a high gravity beer, keep cool, and of course make sure you have spot on sanitation. I also like the idea of a sour

    Help!!

After doing a quick google you should have 10-11 ohms on the element.
