    Milk Stout Lactose

Just got an extract kit for Milk Stout by Red Beaver and it doesn't say when to mix in the lactose. Any ideas? Does it go in when dry extract goes in? Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Bitter taste

Ok, so I just popped open my first beer from my first brew. It is an American Light Lager. To me it is extremely bitter which should not be normal. What do you think could have caused that? I only got the alc% to 3.15 as I had a few issues getting it to ferment.

    Crystal like substance

My first brew is still carbonating with about a week to go. I just looked at the bottles and it looks like there is a small film of crystal like substance on the bottom. What is this and is it normal? Will it go away?

My extract kits don't say to rehydrate the yeast prior to mixing it in to the wort? Which way is better?
