    Northern Italy Homebrewers?

I’ve been gone for over a year, but while there, was quite happy with the ingredient availability. Pinta in Marostica was a great shop (https://www.pinta.it/en). The younger guys spoke enough English. The only thing they didn’t have is liquid yeast. I paid a bunch of shipping costs to get stuff...

Realistic shelf life of a IPA

It all depends on the beer, of course. The bitterness profile will last for a long time. Aroma will start falling off immediately, but perceivable after 2-3 weeks in my experience.

    Muddy Creek Brewery: Hot Break!

After reading through your original post, real time, two years ago, I finally have a chance to visit. This visit will come after flying from Italy to DC, then driving all the way to Butte. That's a long way for beer! It will actually be at the tail end of my Army move, but my route just happens...

why can't I delete this double posting? sorry folks

    Keezer in Europe

Ok...if my fridge needs a stepdown transformer, do you recommend using your temperature controller 'before' the transformer: KEEZER --> TRANSFORMER --> INKBIRD --> POWER OUTLET OR should I use your 110v temp control and do: KEEZER --> INKBIRD --> TRANSFORMER --> POWER OUTLET does it...

    Keezer in Europe

Many thanks! I was thinking the same thing (only $130 and a little labor if it ****s the bed). I just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something that everyone (except me) knew was a bad idea. If it dies, I'll make a better one. Much appreciated.

    Keezer in Europe

It doesn't cost me anything to move it...military will move it, or I can put it in storage. I'm bringing over other electronics that I will use with a step-down transformer...just for some reason I'm thinking the frequency cycle difference will harm it...though it might not be any different...

    Keezer in Europe

I know there are some electricity-smart folks out there...

    Keezer in Europe

I'm about to be sent to Italy (military move) and trying to figure out: 1) Can I use my keezer there with a typical 110/220V power convertor (will the hertz difference affect it...will I somehow burn it out) 2) How much wattage does a typical 5 cubic foot freezer use? I know they cycle on...

Why buy a 5 gallon fermenter is 6.5 gallon same price?

Lots of people use 6.5 for primary and 5 for secondary (so they can fill to the neck and minimize surface area for air)

    New guy with etiquette questions

If he's you're buddy, give him half that beer...its a small price to pay for peace in the friendship since you two failed to be clear in the exchange. The let him know if you're going to brew together again, that you can't foot the expenses primarily by yourself. Brew when and what you want to...

    Northern Italy Homebrewers?

Thanks. Which temp control unit do you have? I know that mine is only 110 (built with an STC-1000) and many online don't specify. Thinking the Johnson digital controller would be fine. Do you just use the plug adaptor (after moving the jumper)? Or did you rewire it with a euro plug cable? I'm...

    Northern Italy Homebrewers?

As you guys have been thinking about kegging, have you looked at temperature controllers at all? I have one, but 90% sure it's only 110v. Have you been able to locate 220v one there?

    Northern Italy Homebrewers?

Also, while I'm sure you've got plenty of research resources, including this forum, I'd recommend looking at http://www.homebrewing.org/ and their used pin lock systems. I haven't used pin lock, but the prices are incredible, even after you add on new poppets, gaskets, and a pin lock socket...

    Northern Italy Homebrewers?

Awesome info - thanks guys. Seriously, send me a PM on here with your official email (so I know I can track you down if needed) and we can talk about things you need. I cook on my gas range indoors now, so I'll plan to stick with that. Hopefully I can adapt my wort chiller to fit the...

    Northern Italy Homebrewers?

Congrats to me! I just found out that I will be PCSing to Vincenza in November. For folks that asked me earlier about HHG-type stuff, please PM me and we'll connect through real email. So, here are my initial questions: - What's hard to get there, ingredients or equipment-wise? (I'm probably...

    Northern Italy Homebrewers?

I may be getting assigned to Vicenza (know in about a month)...potential lack of homebrewing was the only thing holding me back from putting this assignment at the top of my list...you just made my day. Thanks. HBT comes through again!
