Bru'n Water Mash Profile vs Finished Profile

I've been using Bru'n water for a long time and have the supporters version. I recently got a new HERMS system and want to add all my salts to the mash instead of splitting them up. I check the box for add all to mash but am wondering.. Should I be aiming to hit the mash water profile for my...

Beersmith 3 batch size vs post boil size and gravity

Ok, I understand that and think I figured out what my issue may have been. I'll run a water test and determine exactly what I lose to my chiller and hoses and between that and potential variance in the amount that gets boiled off I should get a better idea of the system. It's possible that my...

Beersmith 3 batch size vs post boil size and gravity

I've been using beersmith for many years with my previous equipment and found it pretty accurate for my needs. I just got a new 20g Spike Brewing system to replace my older 10g electric system and am having trouble with the equipment profile in Beersmith. For my first run on this system and for...

Possible to convert an inline pump to a center inlet?

Thanks. Yea, Spike has been great so far. I have their CF10 and a handful of accessories. I did get a response back letting me know they were forwarding my question on. It's not too big of an issue either way, and my wife said just order it with the new pumps, I'm just curious what the cost...

Possible to convert an inline pump to a center inlet?

This is what I'm trying to confirm. I would expect them to be interchangeable assuming the pump sizes were the same.

Possible to convert an inline pump to a center inlet?

I have 2 chugger center inlet pumps that are a few years old but work flawlessly. I had a sort of catastrophic issue with my control panel and it needs to be replaced. I'm considering replacing the whole system with 20g kettles, likely via a spike 20g system. That system includes 2 chugged...

    Love 16c Boil Control Settings

My new electric brewery setup is ready and I plan to brew my first batch with it this weekend. It's a 30A PID setup withe the control panel kit from ebrewsupply. My problem is with the Love controller connected to the boil element. When it's set to manual mode, nothing seems to happen. It'll...

    15/15/30 half barrel RIMS?

Depending on the kind of beers you like to brew, a 15 gallon Mt will be pretty small. I use a 15/15/15 setup and my mash tun is full for 10 gallon bathes over 1.06 or so, and nearly full for 5 gallons of RIS or similar. I'd be hesitant to plan on using it for 15 gallons bathes. Agree with...

why did my keg empty into the bottom of my keezer?

I had this happen for the first time not too long ago. I had just replaced the poppet due to a leak that new orings couldn't fix. It was very stiff and difficult to get the ball lock connector on. I forgot about that when I tapped it and the connector was only 3/4 on. next morning///boom 5...

    Good Hawaiian Beers?

Maui Brewings brewpub has a lot more offerings that don't get distributed. Many of them are better than their standard lineup. Definitely worth a visit.

    Perlick 525ss... Again

I recently bought 4 from Adventures in Homebrewing and am very happy. It was the best price I could find at the time (about 2 months ago).

CO2 Tank Bought Second Hand - Didn't Get Papers

Have you tried other shops? When I bought my 20lb tank, it was out of date. I took it to west air and they swapped it out without even looking or asking.

    Session IPA recipe advice

FWIW my session IPA is mashed low (148F), with an OG of 1.048. I keep the grain bill the same as I would for an IPA, pale with a very small amount of light crystal. I also really like FWHing for these and eliminating the 60min addition. Mine is FWH'd with amarillo and lots of late additions...

    Shanks for Keezer Question

As mentioned, go with 4" shanks. I just put 3" ones in mine with a 2x6 collar and they wouldn't fit with an additional 1" collar. I'd also second getting stainless shanks.

    Cream Ale first time

I second the use of WLP080. I use it my cream ale and am very happy with it. I also agree with the american 2 or 6 row. I use 6-row and flaked corn in mine and couldn't be happier.

    Help with yeast selection

I use WLP080 for my cream ale and have been very happy with the results. Although, I've never tried a different strain in it. I ferment it at 66F.

    s'more beer???

I can't recall the brewery, but over the weekend I had a s'mores beer. It was a porter that said it was brewed with chocolate, graham crackers and marshmallows. I don't know if all that was true, but it was definitely good. If you like s'mores, go for it, although I'd probably forgo the smoked...

    I'm officially finished with Airgas!

I stopped going to airgas years ago when I realized that the price varied each trip. Sometimes it was $15 sometimes $20, once it was $27/28 and that was the last time. I even asked the guy why it was so much more than usual and he said that the regular price was some outrageous number and that...

    Chest Freezer Temps in Winter

I just started doing the light bulb thing. My garage gets cold at night and I was having trouble keeping ale temps in the chest freezer without it dropping down to the 50s. I added a 40watt light and its been constant 66F since.
