    Show us your Kegerator

Thanks! That fridge looks nice too. I found there are generally a lot of old fridges to choose from on craigslist, but you have to be fast. They go quick. One thing I forgot to mention is that we took the fridge apart, cleaned it all up, sanded and painted it ourselves. It holds two kegs. It was...

    Show us your Kegerator

Here is our new kegerator, before and after. We bought the fridge for $75 and repainted it 1957 Chevy blue using car paint. It came out better then I thought it would. More pictures here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kohtz/sets/72157622253095425/

    How important is sanitation?

I looked it up, 2 minutes under 3000 feet, 5 minutes if above. That's just according to one web site though and relates to drinking water. A medical site says 10 minutes to decontaminate equipment at sea level, 20 minutes over 4000 feet. My guess, 5 minutes is probably good enough for making beer.

    How important is sanitation?

Yeah, I just did what the directions said. It's my first batch. It's why I asked the question. :) Next time I'll probably boil the second 3 gallons too. How long should you boil water to kill everything off?

    Hello from Lincoln, NE

Thanks! Lazlo's beer is great. What's even better is their brew tour every month where the brew master talks about the brew process. I have a feeling I'm going to get a lot more out of those tours now that I am brewing my own beer. Also, my brother lives in Kearney. They have a really good...

    Hello from Lincoln, NE

Hey, just thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Craig and live in Lincoln, Nebraska. I found this forum because I had some questions, and they were answered within like 10 minutes! Nice! I just got a brewing kit for Christmas and finally had a chance to start the first batch this weekend. I'm sure...

    How important is sanitation?

I'm with ya. I think the sanitation is an important step (although this is my first batch) because, as stated above, it will give the beer it's best chance. Plus I like to follow directions as much as possible when I'm doing things I've never done before. As for the water though, only 2 gallons...

    I moved my bucket...

Thanks for the advice. Next batch will start in the basement and I'll try not to worry about it. I just didn't know if sloshing it around a little would disturb the process at all. Sounds like it shouldn't hurt it.

    How important is sanitation?

My girlfriend and I brewed our first batch of beer this weekend. I'm a computer programmer, and she is a microbiologist. From everything I've read, sanitation is very important. However, she basically told me that the fact we're in an open environment and using tap water means that sanitizing...

Thought I posted this in the wrong place for a sec. Guess not. Ignore this message. :)

    I moved my bucket...

Hey everyone, I'm a first time home brewer and I started on my first batch of beer Sunday. Since I'm very new to this, this question may seem silly. I feel somewhat like an over protective parent taking their kid to the doctor for something that experienced parents would just ignore. BUT... :)...
