What are you drinking on Halloween?

I'll be drinking a pumpkin ale which went from boil to glass in 3 weeks. Don't believe those that say it has to be done in August. Mine is easily in my top 5 that I've ever done. Cheers.

Single 10 gal batch...split into Centennial Blonde and Bourbon Barrel Porter

Well, just opened up my first of the bourbon barrel porter today. I bottled this one because it didn't seem like something I'd want a lot of at once, plus it's fun to get a collection of bottles going. Turned out pretty well. I think I may have been a little heavy with the oak chips, but with...

Single 10 gal batch...split into Centennial Blonde and Bourbon Barrel Porter

I bet you could do this with an Amber or ESB or a bunch of others. Might have to do it again if I find a good Amber to do down the road. By the way, I bottled the Porter this weekend and it's definitely going to be a good one.

Bad thermometer calibration, what should I expect?

It seems like the last couple of recipes that I've made have had higher target mash temperatures, one of them being as high as 158. My point here is that there seems to be a wider range of temps that will yield a good brew than I had originally thought, so I think you'll be fine. In my...

What's the best Pumpkin recipe on here?

Hey All - I want to make a pumpkin brew this weekend, but there are a million pumpkin recipes. I'm curious what the consensus best recipe is. And yes, I know I should have probably been brewing this 30 - 60 days ago...what can I say....I'm a little behind. I've got an Oktoberfest to hold me...

    Fermenting with Fruit Question

Hi Greg - I've made a strawberry cream ale a number of times and always get good reviews. My process has always been to add the strawberries after the primary fermentation is over and leave them in for 7-10 days. Not sure exactly how blackberries will react, but I can tell you that...

Single 10 gal batch...split into Centennial Blonde and Bourbon Barrel Porter

Thanks. I'm sure others on the site probably do this type of thing routinely, but hey, it was new to me! There's probably all sorts of combinations that you could work out in split batches.

    Bourbon cherry stout

I've done a strawberry ale a number of times that is a neighborhood favorite. I'm not big of secondaries so I add my strawberries after about 1-2 weeks, directly to the primary and then let them sit for about a week. By the end of that time, they look pretty rough, but once you pull them out...

Need advice for boiling at near pot capacity

I agree with those that suggested saving some water. Just save some of your sparge water to add towards the end of the boil when your volume is down. I've done that without issues.
