    Gose beer

In the last several days I've been corrected on how to pronounce 'GOSE'. Long O, short O (ah sound), two syllable with a hard E... What's the consensus here on the forum?

temp control with water bath and a towel

Yeah I'll TELL my wife I'm getting a temp control chamber today. No hipster here, I'm an oldster. Anyone use those Brew Jacket Immersions? They're only $300.

temp control with water bath and a towel

I'm not good with 'Search' so I'll ask here. What is the technique used to keep wort cool during fermentation on hot days without refrigeration? On hot days in PA the basement hangs around 73-74 degrees. (winter is ideal in the mid 60's) I have a large plastic bucket just purchased from Lowes...

New to kegging, beer line length with kit

I have 5' lines, 10-12psi and serve around 39-40 degrees. First few ounces are a little foamy, (no tower fan/cooler) but additional pours are good.

    Repurposed yeast tubes

I soaked in straight A for a while till the paper came loose enough to scrape off then used GooGone on the adhesive. Took a few application and no marks to the plastic.

    Repurposed yeast tubes

Cheap tap handles I use to ID the style on tap. Just used a 3/8-16 x 7/16 T-nut with flange with brad holes purchased at Lowe's. Hardest part was finding the center of the cap for drilling the hole and inserted the t-nut from in side the cap. The tube seats against the flange inside the cap...

    FastFerment problem

Here's a FastFerment problem I'm having. This is my 3 batch with it. Not really a problem with the equipment but rather its use. After primary and "secondary" I'm ready to keg. There are patches of trub hanging on the sides of the conical. As it drains into the keg patches of trub flow into the...

    Keg care

I just received a new keg from AIH (homebrewing.org). $75 is a good deal. Other than the usual cleaning with PBW or StraightA, do new kegs require special cleaning to remove manufacturing oils, etc.? Les Edit: Just heard back from AIH about my question posted here. "Answer: You should clean and...

    FastFerment conical

There is an O-ring that rests in a groove in the upper union. Perhaps yours is missing. I don't need to but snug up the union. No over-tightening. I make sure it's still in there when changing the ball after primary.

    How long on pure oxygen

Gonna try aeration with O2 today. How long should I let it bubble? In contrast, how long using just room air? I'll be using a ss diffusion stone.

Nice! Well beyond my woodworking skills. Do I also see a FastFerment stand from wood?

    Retired home brewers

I was just in a thread with another retired home brewer. Got me thinking, how many of us retired home brewers are represented here on HBT? Not necessarily looking for numbers, rather what you're retired from and your style of brewing, i.e. extract, AG, BIAB. I'll start. Retired 3 years. I've...

    freestanding FastFerment mount

Your welcome. Seeing your signature, I wonder how many of us retired folk make up home brewers? I'll start a new thread. Les

    freestanding FastFerment mount

The entire height is 64". Horizontal feet are 30" with 18" toward the front under the hanging fermenter and the rest behind to prevent tipping backward. Angle braces are about 34" in length. You gotta understand I did it all on the fly. I knew the height I needed to fill the keg and the width...

    freestanding FastFerment mount

Works fine to hold the fermenter. I don't have a pump so I ladle the wort in with a large measuring cup, at least till I can lift the bucket to empty the rest in. I keg so it makes it quite easy after secondary. Still playing with the process to find the best practices that work with the...

    Beer served at 26 degrees

Been like that for a year. One day I guess... as long as I don't spill my frosty adult beverage.
